That was one helluva weekend and even though Monday has been kickin’ my butt today, I will not admit defeat. Instead I will hike up my Party Pants a little bit higher in order to get the good times rollin’. Here we go! Fun stuff to do on this beautiful Monday evening such as Ryan Halliburton and the Still at Portland Lobster Company, Eric Bettencourt Presents Mystery Songwriters Monday at Blue, SWMRS and Partybaby at Port City Music Hall, Stephan “Ragga” Marley at The State, Pat Foley at The Porthole and much more!


Pop-rock musician Michael Krapovicky returns to host another free Open Mic at Pedro O’Hara’s. Join in on the musical revelry as this all ages event get underway around 6:30pm.


Get your Monday evening underway with some free music over at the Portland Lobster Company as Ryan Halliburton and The Still return to the deck with some fun pop-rock sounds that are guaranteed to please as this all ages show starts up at 5.

Eric Bettencourt hosts another round of Mystery Songwriters Monday at Blue this evening. Bettencourt presents to you some  local and touring artists who’ll take the stage to share their experience with the craft and playing for you. Tonight Zach Jones, who’s visiting briefly from L.A., and Dominic Lavoie, who’s band Dominic and The Lucid just released a killer new album called Ferret, will be joining Eric at Blue to chat about the craft of songwriting as well as perform some songs. Tonight’s event begins at 6 o’clock.

The Porthole welcomes back local musician Pat Foley for some acoustic country-rock. If you’re downtown on this Monday evening be sure to stop into this free show as the music starts at 6.

Roots rock duo Haze & Dacey will be making some noise at Andy’s Old Port Pub tonight. Check out the pair as their free all ages show starts at 7 o’clock.

Grammy-winning reggae artist, and second son of Bob Marley, Stephen “Ragga” Marley will be taking the stage of the State Theatre tonight alongside Jo Mersa Marley, Rica Newell, Ranoy Gordon, Rochelle Bradshaw, Nicholas Laraque, Squidly Cole for an all ages show that starts up at 8pm.

Port City Music Hall welcomes California band SWMRS tonight for an all ages show. The band crosses old-school pop-punk with an indie rock. They’ll be joined tonight by pop-act Partybaby, who’ll kick things off right around 8pm.

Get after it tonight with another Funky Monday featuring Gina and the Red Eye Flight Crew at Portland House of Music and Events. The band, which is basically most of the members of Model Airplane, back up this talented songstress for some funk, soul and R&B jams that are guaranteed to please as the good times get rollin’ right around 9.

Monday of the Minds presents Brzowski and Cody Pope at Flask Lounge tonight. Portland locals Gvtter Ze Gvttzein and Murka alongside Maine artist Words Of Phrase will also be rocking sets tonight. Check out a great night of hip hop and good vibes as this free show starts up at 9.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
