Alright after having been on vacation last week I’m going to do my absolute best to slay this day and I invite you all to join me. Why not put Monday in its place by getting out there tonight and doing it to it? There are some fun things to see and do, including an open mic with Michael Krapovicky at Pedro O’Hara’s, Sami Stevens & Steve Bilodeau at Slates, Mike Preston at Andy’s, and more! So hike up those Party Pants that may or may not be a little crusty from all of this past weekend’s festivities and give it your all! Here we go!
NYC vocalist Sami Stevens combines soul, jazz, experimental and R&B sounds to forge a truly unique musical experience. A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, Sami has performed with world renowned jazz pianist Jason Moran and 6-time Grammy nominee Fred Hersch, recorded with experimental music legends John Zorn and Gary Wilson, and opened for artists as diverse as Grammy nominated folk singer Greg Brown and Black Star MC Talib Kweli. Tonight she is joined by musician Steve Bilodeau for a performance at Slates in Hallowell that begins right around 8:15 tonight.
If you’re in the Lewiston area this Monday, drop by Pedro O’Hara’s where local pop-rocker Michael Krapovicky will be hosting another installment of his weekly acoustic Open Mic event. Tonight’s free event gets underway at 6:30 and is open to all, so grab an instrument and get ready to make some music, and some new friends tonight!
Andy’s Old Port Pub welcomes back local musician Mike Preston for some acoustic country tunes tonight. This free and all ages show gets started up right around 7.
Mothership Mondays with Andrew Bailie & Crew continue tonight at Portland House of Music and Events. Get down with Bailie and friends as they funk up your Monday with some super fun jams starting at 9pm.
Put on your party pants and join the celebration as Primary Dance Party turns two tonight over at Flask Lounge. DJs Zimbra and DoomsdayJ will be spinning all your favorite New Wave, synth-pop and post-punk tunes as this free party begins at 9 o’clock.
