Get funky with Gina & The Red Eye Flight Crew at Portland House of Music and Events tonight

Of course here we are at the beginning of yet another action-packed week and I’ve yet to truly recover from the weekend. Jeepers, oh well, time to roll with the punches and see what we can shake out of this Monday! Some fun shows to check tonight including Ben Kilcollins at the Pier Patio Pub, Vinyl Tap at Portland Lobster Company, Monday of the Minds at Flask Lounge, Cumberland Crossing at Blue, and more.

HALLOWELL

Local jam band Hambone will be hosting an open jam tonight at Easy Street Lounge. Tonight they welcome any and all musicians to join them for some musical merriment as this free shindig gets swinging at 9 o’clock.

LEWISTON

If you’re anywhere near the Lewiston area this evening, drop by Pedro O’Hara’s as local pop-rocker Michael Krapovicky hosts another installment of his weekly acoustic open mic event. Tonight’s free shindig gets underway at 6:30 and is open to all musicians.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH

Local musician Dan Merrill is back at The Brunswick this evening for a set that’ll feature a variety of acoustic rock, pop and folk covers and originals. Tonight’s show is free and starts up at 7.

Ben Kilcollins is back at The Pier Patio Pub tonight for a set of acoustic sounds. You know Ben from his time spent fronting local pop-rock act, Kilcollins, but this evening he goes solo for some fun cover tunes and original songs starting right around 9 during this free event.

My Skeleton, a local acoustic act consisting of musicians Alex Roy and Matt Libby, will be performing a free show out at Hooligan’s on the pier in OOB tonight. Join these fellas for some Monday night fun beginning at 9pm.

PORTLAND

Pat Foley returns to the deck of The Porthole tonight with some acoustic country-rock. If you’re in the area tonight make some plans to drop by as the music starts up at 6.

Over at Portland Lobster Company you can join Vinyl Tap out on the deck as they play all kinds of classic jams during a free show. Vinyl Tap is known for making people bust a move to their wide array of danceable cover tunes that span between everything from everything The Beatles to Huey Lewis, Cee Lo Green, Stevie Wonder, The Dead and many, many more. There’s never a cover charge so check it out starting at 6:30 tonight.

Blue welcomes back local, contemporary bluegrass band Cumberland Crossing for an early evening of bustling bluegrass music. Tonight’s all-ages show gets kickin’ at 7 o’clock.

Get after it tonight with Gina Alibrio and the Red Eye Flight Crew. Featuring most of the members of Model Airplane backing up talented songstress, Gina Alibrio, you’re guaranteed to have a soulfully good time as things start up right around 9 at Portland House of Music and Events.

Monday of the Minds, a showcase of some of the scene’s biggest and brightest hip hop artists, continues tonight at Flask Lounge. Tonight they’ll be presenting performances by artists GVTZ, Shameek The God, Notoriety, Spock Summa, Peace Out Pat, Murka, and Ill Murray, and more to showcase some of their beats, bangers and bars. Things get underway right around 9 with early and late night freestyle cyphers to sign up for too.

Holly Nunan

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
