If you’re out and about in Auburn tonight, swing by Gritty’s where local musician Mitch Alden will be performing. Mitch is the creative force behind alternative rock band, Now is Now, so stop by and check out his solo set, which starts right around 8pm.
The Daniel Coast Bar + Bistro in Brunswick welcomes back Maine musician Peter Carriveau for an evening full of terrific tunes. Peter has numerous influences from folk to Americana to rock. During this free, all-ages show that starts up at 6, you’re likely to hear songs by artists such as Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Gram Parsons, Steve Goodman, Van Morrison, The Beatles, Steve Earl, Ray Lamontagne, and many more, so be sure to stop by if you’re in the area this evening.
Uke n’ Smile is back at the Local Buzz for some open mic action this Thursday evening. All musicians of different skills and genres are invited to get up on the microphone tonight as this free and all-ages event begins right around 7:30pm.
Local musician Steve Jones and a few of his friends will be making some joyful noise at The Liberal Cup this evening. Jones and company will be performing a blend of rockabilly, country, old-time rock and roll, Americana, roots and more starting at 7 o’clock.
Sea40 in Lewiston welcomes local folk-rock musician Brian Patricks. Patricks intertwines finger-style, rhythmic guitar with a hint of harmonica into his sets of originals and covers that span the folk, blues, roots and rock genres. Check out Patricks’ solo set as this free all-ages show starts at 7.
Check out The Grassholes as they play some feel-good bluegrass tunes at Flatbread on Commercial Street tonight. Starting at 6:30, kick back, enjoy some beer, delicious food, and mighty fine tunes during this free, all-ages shindig.
Local artist Jim Gallant brings a mix of Americana, blues, folk, bluegrass and rockabilly to Andy’s Old Port Pub tonight. Join him for a free evening of music as this all ages show starts at 7 o’clock.
Anticipate lots of good times to be rollin’ through Portland House of Music and Events tonight as they welcome back Vermont funk rockers Gang of Thieves to the stage alongside special guests, Hambone and Swimmer. Get a solid dose of good vibes this Thursday as things get underway right around 8 o’clock.
A night dedicated to the wonderful songwriters and performers of the local music scene happens at Blue on Congress Street this Thursday as the venue hosts another installment of the Cover Your Friends series. This series is focused on local performers covering other local musicians’ songs. Things begin at 7 and will feature rounds from many talented musicians from around the state of Maine.
Boston indie rocker Melissa Ferrick takes to the stage of One Longfellow Square in Portland once again this evening. Tons of folky goodness gets underway right around 8 with an opening set by The Whiskey Treaty Roadshow.
Tonight Aura presents their premiere show with Led Zeppelin tribute act, Get The Led Out. From the bombastic and epic, to the folky and mystical, Get The Led Out captures the essence of the recorded music of the mighty Led Zeppelin and brings it to life on the concert stage. Dubbed by the media as “The American Led Zeppelin,” Get The Led Out offers a strong focus on the early years of the mighty Led Zeppelin. They also touch on the deeper cuts that were seldom, if ever heard in concert. The Philadelphia-based group consists of six veteran musicians intent on delivering Led Zeppelin live and like you’ve never heard before. Ben Kilcollins & The Vargas Twins are back at RiRa tonight for some sweet, acoustic action. You know Ben from his time spent pop-rockin’ as the frontman of the band Kilcollins, but this evening he teams up with the talented Vargas Twins for some fun cover tunes and originals starting right around 9.
Get after it this Thursday with some high-energy, heavy-hitting, and high-quality RnR (rock n’ roll!) as three tremendous acts team up to bring the thunder to the Empire evening. Prepare to get rocked and/or rolled by Fifth Freedom, Red Sky Mary and Drivetrain as things get cranked up to about eleven right around 9pm tonight.
Jam out this Thirsty Thursday with A Band Beyond Description at Gritty’s in the Old Port tonight. Get your free Grateful Dead freak out on starting at 9pm.
Canadian hard rock quartet, Bleeker, whose Stones-esque swagger and big hooks invoke names like the Black Keys, the Struts, Jet, and Royal Blood, will be lighting things up on stage at Port City Music Hall tonight. Riff-heavy alt-rock trio, Beware Of Darkness and LA hard rockers, Badflower round out this 18+ show bill as things get underway at 9 o’clock.
Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza welcomes Pat Foley for some acoustic country-rock. If you’re in the area tonight make some plans to drop by as the music starts up at 7.
Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am.
