Gregory Alan Isakov & Maine Youth Rock Orchestra play at the State Theatre tonight


I must say, I’m feeling pretty good about this Tuesday evening as things are shaping up with tons of great tunes all around town and beyond. If you’re ready to get weird and wild tonight here are some shows to check out including Ron Bergeron at Fast Breaks, Ryan Halliburton and The Still at Portland Lobster Company, Barrule at One Longfellow Square, Ice Cold Zima at Portland House of Music, Open Mic with Jacob McCurdy at Bull Feeney’s and more!


Fast Breaks in Lewiston welcomes back local singer-songwriter Ron Bergeron for a Tuesday night of tunes. Ron will be serving up tons of great songs starting at 6pm including covers of The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and maybe even a little Lady Gaga. If you’re in the area be sure to stop by and check out some good times and good tunes during this free and fun show.


Everybody’s favorite soul singing dude Lyle Divinsky is ready once again to lay down some smooth soul, cool funk and rapturous R&B during another free show out on the patio of Portland House of Music and Events tonight. Lyle will be serenading you from 4 to 7, so stop through and check him out.

Get your Tuesday evening started with a free show over at Portland Lobster Company as Ryan Halliburton and The Still bring some pop-rock tunes to the deck during a free all ages show that starts up at 6:30pm.

The award winning trio of traditional Manx music makers Barrule will be performing at One Longfellow Square in Portland tonight. This evening’s show will get underway at 7pm.

Andy’s Old Port Pub hosts an evening of acoustic, old school Louisiana blues as they welcome back Poor Howard to the stage this Tuesday. This all ages, free show starts at 7 o’clock.

Jazz things up tonight with another great night of music in an awesome venue as Blue welcomes back The Jazz Workshop to the stage. The Jazz Workshop features John Clark on bass, Glenway Fripp on piano, Carl Dimow on flute, Duncan Hardy, Frank Mauceri and Tracy McMullen on sax, and Peter McLaughlin on drums. This evening’s performance gets underway at 8 o’clock.

Gregory Alan Isakov brings his dusty folk and moody Americana music to the stage of the State Theatre tonight. The incredibly talent Maine Youth Rock Orchestra will be performing alongside Isakov as this all ages performance gets underway at 8.

90’s cover band Ice Cold Zima will be rockin’ their regular Tuesday night gig at Portland House of Music and Events. Time travel with some cover tunes of No Doubt, Fiona Apple, The Cardigans, 4 Non Blondes, Green Day, Lauryn Hill, Bonnie Raitt, Stone Temple Pilots, Alanis Morissette, and more as things get jumpin’ right around 9.

Flask Lounge hosts another Open Mic for DJs with a free dance party that encourages up and coming record spinners and producers to take a chance and get up on the tables during this fun event. All you need to bring are your records, CDs and controller. All formats of music are welcome. Tonight’s DJ open mic begins at 9pm.

Rhythm & Tues, the Empire’s new summer music series, rolls on tonight with local act The Class Reunion. The band features a ton of talented local players performing a bunch of fun throwback funk, blues, and R&B covers. The party starts at 9 o’clock.

Bull Feeney’s acoustic Open Mic night with local folk-pop artist, Jacob McCurdy continues this evening. Join in on the creative fun as Jacob invites any and all musicians to the stage to perform beginning at 9:30.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
