How does this always happen?! One minute it’s Friday and I am the happiest girl in the world then the next thing I know I’m getting smacked in the face by another Monday! Color me unimpressed. Anyway, it was quite the weekend so I suppose I shouldn’t whine too much and just buck and get some adulting done, but after I pretend to be responsible and high-functioning I think I might congratulate myself with a little live music. If you’re smelling what I’m stepping in then go ahead and do the same by checking out some Monday music at such shindigs at Doug Kolmar at Andy’s Old Port Pub, The Longfellows at Portland House of Music, Myles Bullen at Local Sprouts, and more!
Local musicians are set to pay tribute to The Band’s last show, dubbed The Last Waltz, which occurred on Thanksgiving Day in 1976 and featured a plethora of special guests including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and Van Morrison to name a few. Tonight Bob Colwell, Pat Colwell, Katie Daggett, Dickie Hollis, Justin Maxwell, Tim Sullivan, Steve Vellani and many other special guests aim to recreate the magic of The Last Waltz at tonight’s special show at Slates in Hallowell. Things get underway right around 8:15 tonight, so if you are in the area, be sure to check it out.
Local pop-rock musician Michael Krapovicky returns to host another free Open Mic night up at Pedro O’Hara’s this Monday evening. Join in on the musical revelry as things get underway right around 6:30 tonight.

You can also take in some quality, local bluegrass and grab a slice of some of the best pizza in town at Otto on Congress Street in Portland where local picker Joe Walsh and a handful of his friends will be providing a mighty fine Monday soundtrack for ya starting right around 8:30this evening.
Another funky Monday will be going down at Portland House of Music and Events as The Longfellows return for some serious fun tonight. The band, which is a collection of some of Portland’s funkiest players including members of Model Airplane, Jaw Gems, The Fogcutters, Micromasse Connor Garvey Band, and more, will be bringing the fun and funk to the stage as things get kickin’ right around 9.
If you’re looking for even more Open Mic action check out tonight’s event at the Kerrymen Pub in Saco. Starting at 7:30 full bands and solo acts are encouraged to take to the stage and showcase their musical abilities in front of a live audience. This open mic is a free, fun way to spend a Monday night, so swing through if you’re in the Southern Maine area tonight.
