Hannah Daman & The Martelle Sister, Town Meeting, Quiles & Cloud and Calen Perkins perform at Empire tonight

Well, by the way tonight is shaping up it looks as though the weekend has arrived a day early, and you know what? I’m pretty okay with that! So let’s hike up those Party Pants and do it to it this Thursday evening. Lots to see and do including an open mic with Double Entendre at the Gin Mill, Brian Patricks at Bueno Loco, Ron Bergeron at Sea40, Pretty Girls Sing Soprano at Andy’s Old Port Pub, Cumberland Crossing at Blue, Louis The Child with Imad Royal & Saint Wknd at Port City Music Hall, Jim Gallant at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza, and more!


Acoustic Americana act Double Entendre will be hosting an open bluegrass jam at The Gin Mill in Augusta this evening. Join in on the musical revelry as things get underway at 7:30pm.


Check out acoustic tunes from local singer-songwriter Bill Howard as he returns to The Daniel Coast Bar + Bistro this evening. Bill will be playing some songs during this free, all-ages show which gets started up at 6.


Uke n’ Smile returns to the Local Buzz this evening for another open mic.  All musicians of different skills and genres are welcome as this free, creative gathering gets underway at 7:30.


Bueno Loco in Falmouth welcomes back local folk-rock musician Brian Patricks. Patricks intertwines finger-style, rhythmic guitar with a hint of harmonica into his sets of originals and covers that span the folk, blues, roots and rock genres. Check out Patricks’ solo set as this free all-ages show starts at 6.


If you find yourself up in the Hallowell area this evening be sure to stop by The Liberal Cup as The Whitefields start rocking right around 7. Best described as a folk, funk and rock venture, this band is known for its strong vocal harmonies. Expect a wide range of styles and fun as things get underway tonight.

Local songstress Sa Rah brings her evening of serenades back to the Easy Street Lounge. Make some plans to get cozy and enjoy her acoustic set of songs as things start up at 9:30 tonight.


Sea40 welcomes Ron Bergeron for a night of tunes. Ron will be serving up tons of great songs starting at 6pm including covers of The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and maybe even a little Lady Gaga. If you’re in the area be sure to stop by and check out some good food and good tunes during this free and fun show.


Andy’s Old Port Pub welcomes back local act Pretty Girls Sing Soprano to fill their space with some beautiful sounds. Since their inception Pretty Girls Sing Soprano have quickly turned heads with their tight, clever and original harmonies. You can check them out starting at 7 o’clock this evening.

Blue welcomes back contemporary bluegrass band Cumberland Crossing for another night of bustling bluegrass. Tonight’s free show gets kickin’ around 8 and directly following the band’s set will be an all-out bluegrass jam that’s open to any and all musicians who wanna join in. Swing through and have some fun if you’re kicking around downtown this Thursday evening.

Electronic music duo Louis The Child is at Port City Music Hall tonight alongside Imad Royal and Saint Wknd for an all ages gig that gets underway at 8pm.

Check out the the melodic folk music of local act Hannah Daman and The Martelle Sisters alongside the roots-rock, Americana, country, and folk-infused tunes of Town Meeting, Quiles & Cloud and special guest Calen Perkins tonight. Things get underway upstairs at Empire right around 8 o’clock.

Ben Kilcollins & The Vargas Twins will be hanging out at RiRa for some sweet, acoustic action. You know Ben from his time spent pop-rockin’ with his band Kilcollins, but this evening he teams up with the talented Vargas Twins for some fun cover tunes and originals starting right around 9 o’clock.


Check out a mix of Americana, blues, folk, bluegrass and rockabilly from Maine musician Jim Gallant as he returns to Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza for another free all ages show starting at 7:30 tonight.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
