We’re half way to the freakin’ weekend so why not celebrate by having a little bit of fun? If you’re south of Portland tonight and looking to take in some roots rock jams then make your way down to Champions Sports Bar in Biddeford where Travis James Humphrey will be playing a solo set of tunes. Humphrey will be doing his thing starting at 9:30pm. It’s a free event so no excuses; check it out!
Local musical group, Los Galactacos, comprised of adventuring stringbenders, strummers, pickers, and percussionists exploring an atlas of music styles and songs, will be performing at Frontier once again tonight as part of the venue’s Live in the Lounge music series. Los Galactacos repertoire includes Tex/Mex folk, Appalachian string music, Canadian Maritimes fiddle tunes, the Classic American Songbook, ol’ time Country, and more. Check them out as things get underway at 7:30 during tonight’s free performance.
Local folk-rock duo Rippleton Cross returns to Cole Farms this Wednesday evening to host another free and fun open mic event. The pair will be performing some tunes as well as encouraging other musicians to get up on the mic and have some fun. This all-ages gathering will get underway right around 7 o’clock tonight.
Portland trio, Bread & Circus will be bringing some soul and blues classics to Bray’s Brew Pub tonight. Join these three talented musical merrymakers as things get underway at 6:30.
Make some plans this Wednesday evening to check out the down-home, acoustic roots sounds of David Beam and Friends as they return to Andy’s Old Port Pub for some good times tonight. This lively bunch will be playing some great music for your midweek wind down so swing through and enjoy this free and all-ages show starting at 8.
Blue’s Irish Concert Series continues this with a featured performance by Sean Clohessy and Ivan Goff. Clohessy is a fabulous fiddler originally from Fedamore, County Limerick and Goff, who is originally from Dublin and now based in Brooklyn, plays the uilleann pipes (Irish bellows-blown pipes), Irish wooden flute, and pennywhistles. The pair’s set begins at 7:30 and will be followed by another Wednesday evening Irish Session that is open to any and all musicians looking to get up on stage and collaborate.
Local folk musician Dave Rowe will be playing another free show over at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port tonight. Join Rowe for some good times and good tunes as things start up right around 8 o’clock.
Check out a super fun and free show over at Flask Lounge tonight as they host another installment of the Acoustic Punk Night series, which will feature stripped down, acoustic tunes from Scotty Saints, Lorne Lubinski, Chris Moulton, Lee Lednum, Hilary Silver, Matt Thompson, Ande Greene, and Matt Andersen. Check out some unplugged punk performances as things start up at 8.
More midweek fun will be happening at Crooners & Cocktails tonight as Hello Clarice brings some fun tunes to your Wednesday. Hello Clarice features the vocal stylings of Clarence “Jim” Roberts of Hello Newman and the musical mastery of pianist Mike Maurice as they play everything from Frank Sinatra to Billy Ocean. The pair prepares to perform beginning at 9:30pm.
Check out some good tunes and good vibes going down at Portland House of Music and Events tonight as The Maine Dead Project returns to the stage as part of their winter residency. These talented locals will be taking on the tunes of the Grateful Dead as this groovy gathering gets underway right around 9 o’clock.
Local folk-pop act the Dapper Gents Duo return to the stage of RiRa tonight for their regular Wednesday night gig. Join these fellas for some musical revelry as this free show starts up around 9pm.
Multi-instrumentalist and member of local acts, SeepeopleS, Sea Level and more, Dan Capaldi will be going solo tonight for a special performance at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza. Check out Capaldi’s original compositions as things get underway during tonight’s free and all ages show right around 7 o’clock.
The Frog and Turtle welcomes back local musician Tom Douglas for an evening of acoustic classic covers and original songs. Join Tom as this free and all-ages show starts up at 7:30pm.
