Tonight Maine metal bands Chaos Machine, Seize The Vatican, Waking Life and more come together at Union Street Brick Church in Bangor to help raise money for Kathy Findlay. Findlay is the owner/operator of the live music venue The Kave in Bucksport and has provided a place for many young Maine musicians to get their start and has been a gracious host to a number of touring bands as well. Kathy is fighting an aggressive form of Leukemia and tonight these bands will bond together to help raise funds for her treatment. Things get underway at this all ages event right around 7:30pm.
The Crown Vics prepare to throw down with another non-stop rockabilly dance party at the Hollywood Casino in Bangor tonight. If you’re looking to bust a move and have some fun then check out tonight’s free show as things get underway at 8pm.
The School Street Pub in Gorham welcomes Sarah Libby, a local, soulful, and superb interpreter of songs encompassing many musical genres, to their stage tonight. Sarah will be taking familiar tunes we all know and love and making them her own as this free event begins at 8:30.
The Flying Otters bring some fun to Cole Farms tonight with their mix of original tunes and covers of such artists as Steve Earle, Webb Wilder, Townes Van Zandt, Harry Nilsson, Johnny Cash, and more. This free and all ages event starts up at 7:30.
If you’re in Hallowell tonight check out a fun show at The Kennebec Wharf as The Boneheads return to the stage. The local act, which has become famous for their unpredictable and equally as impressive lives shows that often feature band members switching instruments as well as some dynamic arrangements of beloved tunes and even the occasional hilarious polka take on certain songs, will start things up right around 9.
OLD ORCHARD BEACH
Kilcollins plans to rock the night away down at the beach tonight as they play out at The Brunswick. Beginning at 8:30pm these fellas will get your booty shaking out on the dance floor with all kinds of songs that you know and love as well as some catchy original jams that are sure to keep you moving. Tonight’s show is free and guaranteed to be a fun way to spend a finally Friday so if you’re in the area make some plans to check it out.
Another free and fun show will be happening at The Dogfish Bar & Grille this evening as Americana/roots rocker Travis James Humphrey returns with some Happy Hour tunes. Travis’ performance begins at 5 o’clock.
Local bluegrass band Back Woods Road returns to Andy’s this Friday with an energetic set of acoustic tunes. Check out the act’s tight harmonies, driving lead solos, and crowd-pleasing tunes as things get underway at 7pm during this free and all ages show.
b.good in the Old Port welcomes local folk-rock musician Brian Patricks. Patricks intertwines finger-style, rhythmic guitar with a hint of harmonica into his sets of originals and covers that span the folk, blues, roots and rock genres. Check out Patricks’ solo set as this free all-ages show begins at 7.
Legendary, fast-fingered guitar god Steve Vai, who has performed with the likes of Frank Zappa, David Lee Roth, and Whitesnake to name a few, will be performing at Merrill Auditorium this Friday evening. Vai’s performance begins at 7pm.
MJ’s Wine Bar welcomes back Portland piano man Mike Maurice to their lounge for another Friday filled with funk, soul and jazz selections. Join Mike and imbibe in some delicious vino as things get underway at 8pm.
Boston garage-rock band Idiot Genes return to Portland for a show at SPACE Gallery tonight alongside sludgy Portland weirdos Cadaverette, local riff-based quartet An Anderson, Midcoast act Hopeless Losers, and the indescribable, incomparable The Asthmatic. Tonight’s all ages show kicks off at 8pm.

Portland’s own Primo Cubano presents Orquesta at Portland House of Music tonight as they bring the music you love to salsa dance to a whole new level with an 11-piece band. Get ready to heat things up and dance the night away to some of the best classic Cuban and salsa music around starting at 9 o’clock.

The Scolded Dogs plan on bringing the party to their show up at Mainely Brews in Waterville. These fellas will be making some noise playing some original tunes as well as covers of Johnny Cash, Parliament, Snoop Dogg and more as things get swinging at 9:30pm.
