Jeff Beam & Carinae play a free show at Empire tonight

No matter what you do tonight please make sure that today you get out and rock the vote. No matter what your views are or who you think is the better candidate, make sure your voice is heard! It’s important and you’ll get a nifty sticker to wear out on the town this evening to prove to everyone how awesome you are. There’s my political piece. Now if you’re looking to throw down this Tuesday and forget politics, here are the places to do so including Ronda Dale at Andy’s Old Port Pub, Travis James Humphrey at Gritty’s, Choro Louco at Blue, Uke n’ Smile at Sea Dog Brewing Company and more!

Tonight Blue welcomes back local act Trikala. Trikala draws influences from Carnatic Music (South India’s  classical music tradition) and jazz and features an assortment of Western instruments including alto saxophone, guitar, and keyboards. Stop in beginning at 6 as these talented performers blend Western timbres, Eastern melody and rhythm to create compositions steeped in tradition with a contemporary twist.

Another free and all ages show happens at Andy’s Old Port Pub this Election Day eve as they welcome back local singer-songwriter Ronda Dale to the stage for an acoustic performance that will begin at 7pm.

Take in some tunes from Portland’s only Brazilian choro ensemble, Choro Louco, as they play another show at Blue. Choro Louco features local musicians Carl Dimow, Nicole Rabata, Joel Eckhaus, Eric LaPerna, and David Newsmam. This evening’s performance begins at 8pm. Check it out.

Take in some roots rock tonight at Gritty’s as local musician Travis James Humphrey will be playing a solo set of songs starting at 9 o’clock.

Check out tonight’s Open DJ Night happening at Flask Lounge.  Starting at 9 you can sign up for a slot DJing on some open decks. All you need to bring are some records, CDs, and a pair of headphones. This event is free and always a good time so go on and check it out.

I might need to get a little weird tonight while waiting for election results to roll in so I’m going to throw on my patriotic Party Pants and head down to Empire for a free show featuring the psychedelic sounds of Jeff Beam and Carinae. This evening’s show starts up at 9 with results from today’s election being projected all night long.

Acoustic act Uke n’ Smile hosts another open mic event at Sea Dog Brewing Company this evening. Beginning at 8 any and all musicians are welcome to get up on the mic and play some tunes. If you can’t actually play an instrument, you can sing with Uke n’ Smile as they play the backing music for you. It’s free, fun, and delicious drinks and food are available so if you’re in the area tonight be sure to stop by and check things out.
