Local singer-songwriter Ronda Dale has gathered a band of talented local musicians to come together to pay tribute to legendary country artist Patsy Cline. Roots rocker Travis James Humphrey returns to the Dogfish Bar & Grille tonight for another free solo set that’ll start up right around 5 o’clock.

Another Friday up on the roof at Mathew’s promises to be a party with some high-energy sets of original jams courtesy of Lacuna, Crimewave, Lyokha, Trele The God, Treelock, Brightboy. Things get started up right around 5 o’clock.

Fat Knuckle Freddy is back at Blue this Friday evening. Freddy is a local composer, instrumentalist and a songwriter who plays and writes American Primitive Music on cigar box, resonator, Weissenborn, acoustic, and fretless guitars. Check out this fun night of music as things get started up right around 6 o’clock.

Eric Bettencourt is still playing around town and tonight he’ll be joining a few pals once again out on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company for some musical merriment. I anticipate lots of good times and good tunes as this free show starts up at 7pm.

Local musician Rexy Dinosaur returns with saxophone in claws to the Dogfish Bar & Grille tonight. Rexy will be joined by a couple pals on guitar and percussion the trio brings you a mix of blues, hip hop and jazz beginning at 8 o’clock.

Tonight D. Gross and Los Federales celebrate the release of their record ‘Crooks’ with a show at Portland House of Music and Events. Los Federales channels the spirit of Americana and roots music, exploring the depths of the heartland and the fringes of the cosmos. Tonight’s festivities will get underway at 8pm with performances by local acts, the Emilia Dahlin Quartet and Muddy Ruckus. A guaranteed good time filled with good tunes and good people; don’t miss it.

Acoustic guitarist Craig Ventresco will be performing live at Blue on Congress Street this evening. Ventresco will be playing everything from vaudeville and early 20th Century pop tunes at this free show, which gets underway at 8 o’clock.

Hard-hitting, Brooklyn-based power trio, Highly Suspect, who’ll appeal to those of you that enjoy bands such as Queens of the Stone Age, Kings of Leon, and Band of Skulls, will be rocking State Theatre tonight. This all ages show starts at 8 with opening sets from And The Kids and DJ Redbees.

Local fellas Sylvain’s Acadian Aces are back at Salvage BBQ on Congress Street this finally Friday. Beginning at 8:30 these talented gents will be serving up some authentic Cajun tunes for you to dance around to.

Professional surfer turned Jack Johnson protégé, Donavon Frankenreiter returns to town tonight for a performance at Port City Music Hall. This 18+ shindig gets shaking right around 9 with an opening set by alt-folk artist Matt Grundy.

Tonight Aura welcomes reggae legend Freddie McGregor to the stage. A key figure in the early ska and rasta roots scene, McGregor is considered a prodigy of the genre. See him tonight alongside special guests DJ Ice and The O’Harrows as tonight’s show starts up at 9 o’clock.

Fun times ahead at Geno’s tonight as things get garage-y, punk-y and loud with No Good, Twin Trances and a special reunion set by Boom Shanka. The party starts at 9 o’clock.

Providence noise duo, Lightning Bolt will shaking SPACE Gallery to its foundation tonight with some oppressively heavy, high-volume jams. Opening tonight’s full throttle, face melting assault will be skull-crushers Lingua Ignota and sludgey Maine metal act, Cadaverette. There are only a handful of tickets left for this all ages event so make sure you get there right on time at 9 o’clock.

The Scolded Dogs will be bringing the party to the Amigos patio tonight. These fellas will be making some noise playing some original tunes as well as covers of Johnny Cash, Parliament, Snoop Dogg and more as things get swinging at 9:30.

Soulful siren Megan Jo Wilson will be celebrating the release of her excellent EP titled ‘Tin’ with a party upstairs at Empire tonight. MJW will be backed by talented local musicians Sean Morin, Adam Frederick, Chas Lester, Emmett Harrity, Matt Day and Lucas Desmond, who’ll help her bring the original compositions from her record to life as well as assist in covering some tunes from artists such as Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and Brand New Heavies as well as a few jazz standards thrown in for good measure. Tonight’s musical celebration will get underway upstairs at 9:30pm.

Local piano-driven rock n’ roll act Kris Rodgers and The Dirty Gems will be partying at RiRa tonight. Known as “rock n’ roll’s secret weapon”, Kris ‘Fingers’ Rodgers has been a recording and touring sideman in such garage rock and power pop acts sd The Connection, Scott Sorry, The New Trocaderos, Bullet Proof Lovers, and Kurt Baker Band for years. Tonight he’s once again showcasing his own ability to write some extremely catchy songs that he absolutely sings the hell out of alongside his talented band as things get swinging right around 10pm.

Treat yourself to some sultry salsa tunes  with a bit of a punk edge over at Blue tonight as salsacore act El Malo hits the stage starting at 10.


Brooklyn steamboat soul/roots revival act Roosevelt Dime brings the party up to Rangeley tonight as they play a show at Moose Alley. The fun starts right around 8:30 this finally Friday.


Moticon brings some rock, pop, alternative, and 80’s rock covers to Mixers tonight for a free party that’ll get underway right around 8:30pm this finally Friday.


Local folk-rock cover act Rippleton Cross will be at the Kerrymen Pub this evening. Beginning at 6 the duo will be performing acoustic renditions of songs by such artists as Joe Jackson, Simon & Garfunkel, The Who, Cat Stevens and many, many more. This event is free so make some plans to check it out if you’re in the area this Friday.


Some seriously beautiful sounds will be happening tonight as local duo Jonathan Johnston and Elyse Wilkinson bring their soulful pop-rock songs to the Silver Street Tavern in Waterville for a show that’ll start up right around 8.


Banjo, guitar, fiddle and dobro player Carter Logan will be filling Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza with a bunch of wonderful sounds as he takes to the stage for an all-ages and free show that’ll get swinging right around 7 o’clock.

Get ready to have your face melted off and your ears blown out by The Last King, Objet, Weapons At Hand and Lethal Creed tonight as things get really loud and really awesome during this free rock show over at Live at 212. Music starts at 8.
