Get your boot scootin’ on with country act the Kayla Wass Band as they return to the stage of the Hollywood Casino in Bangor tonight for a free show that’ll get kickin’ right around 8 o’clock.
American Ride will be busting out a bunch of modern country covers for you to boogie down to this evening as they play a free show at Champions beginning at 6:30pm.
Local folk-rocker Brian Patricks returns to The Daniel Coast Bar + Bistro this Thursday evening. Patricks intertwines finger-style, rhythmic guitar with a hint of harmonica into his sets of originals and covers that span the folk, blues, roots and rock genres. Check out this free all ages show as things begin at 6 o’clock.
As the days grow shorter and the year draws to a close Ben Hunsberger, Chris Moore, Ted DeMille, and Chris Dombrowski have prepared a unique and compelling collection of songs that celebrate the Winter Solstice as they come together on stage as Magic Eight Ball. With tunes ranging from originals to traditional folk to contemporary Americana, Magic Eight Ball promises to hold a candle to the impending darkness of winter with this show that’ll begin at 8pm at Frontier in Brunswick.
Local four-piece cover act, Fighting Fiction will be providing the perfect soundtrack for your Friday night with a wide variety of material from all kinds of genres including modern pop, rock, alternative, country, classic rock and more. The band will be doing it to it with a free show starting at 9 at Skip’s Lounge.
Check out some fun pop-rock tunes courtesy of local act The Grumps as they play a free show at The Rack tonight. These talented fellas will get the good times rollin’ right around 9.
Local pop-rock cover act The Nikki Hunt Band will be bringing the party to The Bench in Gardiner. Covering artists such as Sheryl Crow, Joan Jett, Bruce Springsteen, Sublime, No Doubt, The Doors, U2 and many more there’s guaranteed to be something for everyone. Tonight’s performance will also include a colorful hula hoop act so be sure to check it out starting at 9pm.
7-piece funk, rock and reggae collective The Shakes, which features some of the scene’s most fun and funky players, will be performing at The Kennebec Wharf tonight. This free show starts up right around 9pm.
Black Cat Road is back at The Cage in Lewiston this evening. The act will be lighting up the stage with their funky, soulful and rootsy blues tunes as tonight’s free event gets underway right around 8pm.
OLD ORCHARD BEACH
Dance it out down at The Brunswick in Old Orchard Beach as dance/pop cover act Tickle gets ready to bring the house down with some of the best of today’s music mixed in with a little bit of retro funk. The party starts at 8:30 tonight.
Another free and fun show will be happening at The Dogfish Bar & Grille this evening as Americana/roots rocker Travis James Humphrey returns with some Happy Hour tunes. Travis’ performance begins at 5 o’clock.
Jazz guitarist Amory Raymond and musical compadre and Willow Goodine line things up with Andrew Pitteroff and Chris Sweet to perform some contemporary jazz and funk standard tonight at Blue. This evening’s show will begin at 6pm.
Local four-piece rock n’ roll act Riot Act will go quiet tonight for an acoustic set at The Porthole. Tonight’s free show gets started right around 6.
Local musician Jeff Cusack returns to Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street tonight for a free set showcasing his acoustic, light rock tunes. This free and family-friendly even begins at 7pm.
Over at The Dogfish Bar & Grille local act The Waiters will be serving up some quality tunes for you to enjoy this finally Friday. The Waiters will be dishing out all of your favorite cover tunes starting right around 8 during this free, all ages event.
It’s going to be a holiday party of epic proportions as seven-piece band Shut Down Brown brings some raunchy grooves to make you move out on the floor of Port City Music Hall tonight. Shut Down Brown will be providing a ton of festive folly with a slick mash up of funk, rock and soul all night long. Blues rocker Jon King and his band will get the party started with an opening set beginning at 8 o’clock.
MJ’s Wine Bar welcomes back Portland piano man Mike Maurice for another Friday night filled with some funk, jazz, and soul sounds. Enjoy some delicious vino and delightful tunes as this free show starts up at 8pm.
Guitarist Blake Hawley returns to Blue for a night of trio music featuring Blake’s long time musical allies Dom Sbrega and Gary Gemmiti. The band will be performing some new music by Blake as well as a few holiday classics starting at 8 o’clock.
MB Padfield brings her distinct fusion of pop, rock, blues, jazz and hip-hop elements to Brian Boru tonight. Check out Padfield’s guitar skills and smoky vocals as things get underway at 8:30.
Salvage BBQ welcomes contemporary bluegrass band Cumberland Crossing for another night of bustling bluegrass. Tonight’s free show gets kickin’ around 8:30.
It’s no news that 2016 has been a difficult year in many respects, and losing some of the greatest musical minds of all time has only worsened the blow, but this evening Model Airplane wants to help you ease into 2017 with gifts of song and love as they honor the likes of Prince, Davie Bowie, Sharon Jones, Leon Russell, Maurice White, Leonard Cohen, Allen Toussaint, Phife Dawg, Bernie Worrell, George Martin, and so many more. This will be a monumental night of music at Portland House of Music with the extended Model Airplaine family, including the voices of Gina Alibrio, Dominic Lavoie, and the return of the now-Denver-resident Lyle Divinsky (and let’s be real, you know Pops will be there too), and more. Electronic musician, pianist, and rhythm bones player Kafari will be performing with some pals at Blue this evening. Kafari gathers sounds from the world using a pocket-sized recorder, warping them and weaving them together to create a blend of jazz, ambient, and experimental music that feels like a warm day blooming in the middle of winter.
