Local folk-rocker Brian Patricks returns to The Daniel Coast Bar + Bistro this Thursday evening. As the days grow shorter and the year draws to a close Ben Hunsberger, Chris Moore, Ted DeMille, and Chris Dombrowski have prepared a unique and compelling collection of songs that celebrate the Winter Solstice as they come together on stage as Magic Eight Ball. With tunes ranging from originals to traditional folk to contemporary Americana, Magic Eight Ball promises to hold a candle to the impending darkness of winter with this show that’ll begin at 8pm at Frontier in Brunswick.

It’s going to be a holiday party of epic proportions as seven-piece band Shut Down Brown brings some raunchy grooves to make you move out on the floor of Port City Music Hall tonight. Shut Down Brown will be providing a ton of festive folly with a slick mash up of funk, rock and soul all night long. Blues rocker Jon King and his band will get the party started with an opening set beginning at 8 o’clock.
MJ’s Wine Bar welcomes back Portland piano man Mike Maurice for another Friday night filled with some funk, jazz, and soul sounds. Enjoy some delicious vino and delightful tunes as this free show starts up at 8pm.
Guitarist Blake Hawley returns to Blue for a night of trio music featuring Blake’s long time musical allies Dom Sbrega and Gary Gemmiti. The band will be performing some new music by Blake as well as a few holiday classics starting at 8 o’clock.

It’s no news that 2016 has been a difficult year in many respects, and losing some of the greatest musical minds of all time has only worsened the blow, but this evening Model Airplane wants to help you ease into 2017 with gifts of song and love as they honor the likes of Prince, Davie Bowie, Sharon Jones, Leon Russell, Maurice White, Leonard Cohen, Allen Toussaint, Phife Dawg, Bernie Worrell, George Martin, and so many more.
