The Dave Mello Trio will be bringing some blues rock to your Friday evening as they play a free show at Gritty’s Auburn location. Tonight’s shindig will get shaking right around 8pm.


Groove into the freakin’ weekend with the Cliff Randall Band as they take to the stage of the Hollywood Casino tonight for a show chock full of some of the best rock and blues tunes around. This free shindig gets shaking at 8.

Central Gallery hosts a pretty sweet party tonight. Partner, which consists of Lucy Niles and Josée Caron, will be bringing their alt-rock songs to the stage alongside Portland’s own rock n’ roll trio, Weakened Friends. Pretty sure this one will sell out quick so get their early as things get underway at 8pm.

Lucie & The Undercover Band will be bringing some classic rock covers to Sea Dog Brewing Company in Bangor tonight for a free 21+ show that starts up at 9:30pm.


The Blast Addicts will be helping you kick off the freakin’ weekend with a free show at the Country Rose Restaurant in Belfast tonight. Starting at 9 join these cool cats for a non-stop rock and roll dance party that’s guaranteed to get you moving out on the dance floor!


Elements in Biddeford hosts an evening of acoustic, old school Louisiana blues as they welcome Poor Howard tonight. This all ages and free show starts at 8.


Local folk-rock musician Brian Patricks returns to The Daniel Coast Bar + Bistro this evening. Patricks intertwines finger-style, rhythmic guitar with a hint of harmonica into his sets of originals and covers that span the folk, blues, roots and rock genres. Check out this free all ages show as things begin at 7 o’clock.


Local four-piece cover act, Fighting Fiction will be providing the perfect soundtrack for your Friday night with a wide variety of material from all kinds of genres including modern pop, rock, alternative, country, classic rock and more. The band will be doing it to it with a free show starting at 9 at Skips Lounge in Buxton.


Midcoast native Meghan Clark will be playing a free all ages show at the Union River Harbor Park gazebo in Ellsworth this evening. Meghan currently performs as a country artist and loves to play her own original songs as well as covers from many different genres of music like Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, 1975, The Weeknd, and One Direction. Tonight’s show starts at 6pm.


Nick Racioppi of local rock-reggae act A Mighty Lion goes solo tonight for a free show happening at the Gritty’s in Freeport. Join Nick as the good times and good tunes get underway right around 8.


Have some fun this evening at the Gardiner Waterfront with Pat Colwell and the Soul Sensations as they perform as part of the Johnson Hall Waterfront Concert Series. Starting at 7 o’clock, this local act will be bringing down the house with a masterful mix of Motown and Memphis soul that’s certain to get you shakin’ it tonight. And if that’s not enough, there’ll be fireworks following the show as well!


Stesha Cano and her talented band mates will be performing Easy Street Lounge this Friday. Starting at 9 you can check out this free show that’ll feature Stesha’s original blues and jazz jams.


The Cover Tones bring you some rock, pop, dance, blues, country and all else in between during a free show at Trains Tavern tonight. This free show gets swinging right around 8 o’clock.


Local musician Dave Perlman will be playing at Pedro O’Hara’s tonight. Join Dave for a wide array of covers and originals from many different genres during this free acoustic show that’ll get underway at 8pm.

Guthries will be swinging once again as The Juke Joint Devils return to kick out some old time, hard driving blues tunes. Tonight’s free show gets jumping right around 8.


Tons of good vibes will be happening up at The Crooked Hook in Mechanic Falls as they welcome local jam band Continental Shakedown for a night of country, blues, jazz, improve, reggae, and rock and roll. This free show gets started at 7:30pm.


Lots of energetic, awesome, and heavy-hitting indie rock and roll will be taking the Leavitt Theatre in Ogunquit by storm tonight as local bands Cape Cannons, Something Something and Badfellows team up for a show that’s guaranteed to make you move. This shindig gets shaking at 10pm


Southern Maine cover band Country Roads will be bringing the boot-scootin’ boogie to The Bull and Brew in OOB again tonight as they play tunes from such acts as Florida Georgia Line, George Strait, Jason Aldrean, Kenny Chesney, Brooks & Dunn and much, much more during a fun Friday night show that’ll get fired up at 9.


Take in some roots rock tunes this finally Friday as local musician Travis James Humphrey plays a free Happy Hour set over at The Dogfish Bar & Grille. Let the good times roll as things get swinging right around 5 o’clock.

This evening two local, talented singer-songwriters will be sharing the stage of Blue on Congress Street. Tonight don’t miss your chance to see soulful, roots, Americana, and folk artists Clara Junken and Nate Soule in this beautiful and intimate setting. The pair will be sharing songs and stories as this all-ages event gets underway at 6pm.

Spice things up tonight with a free, outdoor performance by Primo Cubano as this local acts plans to bring some Salsa to the Park for you this evening. Beginning at 6pm you can dance the night away in Congress Square Park to some of the best classic Cuban music around.

Over at The Porthole you can check out local act Northern Groove as they gear up to play out on the deck this Friday evening. This band promises a little bit of something for everyone as they span genres such as blues, classic rock, contemporary, country, R&B and more. The party starts at 7 o’clock.

Zeme Libre will be bringing the good times to Slab as part of their Summer Music Series. Check out the act’s high-energy set filled with Afro-fusion, hard-tinged reggae, and ska sounds as this free and all-ages show gets underway out on the patio beginning at 7pm.

The Potato Pickers return to Andy’s Old Port Pub with some fun bluegrass sounds during a free and all-ages show that starts at 7 o’clock.

Local roots-rockers the Jason Spooner Band will be providing the soundtrack to your Friday evening as they play a free and family-friendly set out on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company. Join these fun fellas for some fine Americana sounds as things get underway at 7.

There will be tons of great tunes to take in tonight over at Bayside Bowl as they welcome Portland-based indie rock trio Tall Horse to the stage alongside California’s alt-R&B act, Guthrie Galileo and self-proclaimed disco punk band, Bison who are based out of Burlington. This free show is slated to start up right around 8 o’clock tonight.

Simon Green brings his downbeat electronica project, Bonobo to the State Theatre tonight. Bonobo encompasses elements of jazz, house, soul, and various world music influences to get you moving. This all ages event starts up at 8 with an opening set spun by local DJ mosart212.

Aura in Portland presents Extreme with special guest Barry Goudreau’s Engine Room.  Boston-based band Extreme brings their eclectic take on guitar-fueled hair metal to the stage alongside former Boston guitarist Barry Goudreau’s Engine Room for a show that starts up at 8 o’clock tonight.

Tonight talented, local siren Katie Matzell will be releasing her debut EP with a celebration at One Longfellow Square. Matzell’s sound has been described as soulful, rootsy prog-pop. Tonight Katie will be joined by a band of local musicians to help her bring her original compositions to life. Also on this evening’s bill will be organ-based trio Micromasse, who’ll be creating some superior instrumental jams for you to enjoy starting at 8 o’clock.

Check out the melodic Appalachian sounds of Eastern Sleds tonight at Blue. The band will be taking the stage right around 8 o’clock.

Tonight SPACE Gallery hosts a powerful and diverse showcase of left-field Maine music, in adoration of SPACE friend and An Anderson drummer, Elijah True. Tonight you can take in sets by local acts Johnny Cremains, Uncertainty, Mouth Washington, Ossalot and Cryptic Overcast. This all-ages show starts at 8:30pm and all proceeds will go toward Elijah’s medical expenses. Do good, have fun and support a member of the Maine music community tonight at SPACE.

Vinyl Tap will be partying down at Amigos this evening with all of your favorite dance jams. Vinyl Tap is known for making people bust a move to their wide array of danceable cover tunes that span between everything from everything The Beatles to Huey Lewis, Cee Lo Green, Stevie Wonder, The Dead and many, many more. There’s never a cover charge so check it out starting at 9.

Tonight Portland band Noonday Crawlers will be celebrating the release of their latest album titled “The Desert of When” with a party at Portland House of Music and Events. Noonday Crawlers blend many styles of music including rock, Americana and psychedelic for a sound that’s both familiar and all their own. Things start up with an opening set by Maine-based multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter Jordan Kaulback at 9pm.

The fellas in Hello Newman will be pumping out the jams tonight as they host a party upstairs at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port. Starting at 9:30, you can check out the band as they rock all of your favorite 90s tunes all night long!

Portland’s own Celtic punk-rockers, The Pubcrawlers will be bringing the party to Brian Boru tonight. This lively crew will help you blast off into the weekend with a free show that’ll get swinging upstairs at 9:30pm.

Treat yourself to some sultry salsa tunes  with a bit of a punk edge over at Blue tonight as salsacore act El Malo hits the stage starting at 10.

Local pop-rock cover act The Nikki Hunt Band will be bringing the party back to RiRa tonight. Covering artists such as Sheryl Crow, Joan Jett, Bruce Springsteen, Sublime, No Doubt, The Doors, U2 and many more there’s guaranteed to be something for everyone. Tonight’s performance will also include a colorful hula hoop act so be sure to check it out starting at 10pm.


Check out an evening of original Maine made music tonight at Rock City Coffee in Rockland as they welcome the ambient electro-beats from Quantum beginning at 7.

If you’re up along the Midcoast this evening check out Muscle Shoals, AL-based country-folk duo The Secret Sisters as they play a show at The Strand tonight. Things get underway right around 7:30pm.


Check out a free Friday night party at Mixers tonight as they welcome local cover act Borderline Express to the stage. Starting at 8:30 jump on the fun train as the band performs covers from such artists as Luke Bryan, George Strait, Charlie Daniels, and more.

Phil Divinsky and his Americana-tinged rhythm & blues band return to The Frog & Turtle in Westbrook tonight. You can enjoy some soulful sounds starting at 8:30 at this fabulous gastropub located in downtown Westbrook.




Holly Nunan

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
