Port City Music Hall welcomes Bahamas and special guest Dominic Lavoie tonight

I must say, I’m feeling pretty good about this Tuesday evening as things are shaping up with tons of great tunes all around town and beyond. If you’re ready to get weird and wild tonight, here’s some stuff to check out including City and Colour with Noah Gundersen at State Theatre, Rippleton Cross at Andy’s Old Port Pub, Ackerman Music, Genevieve Beaudoin & Tom Hamill at Empire, an open mic with Uke n’ Smile at Sea Dog Brewing Company, and more!

Check out another free and all ages show at Portland Lobster Company as Ryan Halliburton and The Still bring some pop-rock tunes to the deck. The good times get underway right around 6:30pm.

Local acoustic folk-rock cover act Rippleton Cross will be at Andy’s Old Port Pub this evening. Beginning at 7 the duo will be performing renditions of songs by such artists as Joe Jackson, Simon & Garfunkel, The Who, Cat Stevens and many, many more. This event is free and all-ages so make some plans to check it out if you’re in the area this Wednesday.

City and Colour, the folk-leaning side project of Alexisonfire’s Dallas Green, will be at the State Theatre tonight. Neo-folk singer-songwriter, Noah Gundersen will start the show with a set that begins right around 8.

Bahamas, the solo project of Toronto-based guitarist, Afie Jurvanen, returns to Portland tonight for a show at Port City Music Hall. With a carefully trained ear for melody that Jurvanen’s honed during his time playing with the likes of Feist and Howie Beck, his own solo project focuses more on stripped-down, contemplative indie folk sounds. This 18+ show will get underway with an opening set from Portland’s own psychedelic folk-rocker, Dominic Lavoie as the music begins at 8pm.

Flask Lounge in Portland presents another open mic for DJs with their free dance party, which allows up and coming record spinners to take a chance and get up on the tables during the event. All you need to bring are your records, CDs and controller. All formats of music are welcome as the party starts right around 9 o’clock, so check it out.

Take in some roots rock tunes during a free show at Gritty’s tonight. Starting at 9 local musician Travis James Humphrey will be playing a solo set of songs.

Empire’s Three for 3 music series continues tonight. Beginning at 9 you can check out three artists for only $3 while enjoying a bevy of beverage deals. This week’s event will feature sets by experimental pop outfit, Ackerman Music, the tender folk-rock of Genevieve Beaudoin, and the wandering rock and roll of Tom Hamill.

Uke n’ Smile is hosting another open mic at Sea Dog Brewing Company this Tuesday. Starting at 8 any and all musicians are welcome to play some tunes, or if you can’t actually play an instrument, you can sing with the fellas in Uke n’ Smile as they play the music for you. It’s free, fun, and yummy drinks and food are available as well so if you’re in the area tonight be sure to stop by and check things out.
