Oh, my my, oh hell yes, you got to put on those Party Pants because it’s Wednesday! (I feel as if Tom Petty would probably be disappointed in me for that one, oh well)… We’re half way to the freakin’ weekend, babies, and what better cause for celebration? Once again, lots of appealing events to check out this evening so throw some sustenance into your grocery hole, slip into those Party Pants, and get on out there this evening! Check out shows such as Chris Ross at Chummies, Renee Coolbrith & Kris Rodgers at MJ’s Wine Bar, Built To Last at Portland House of Music and Events, Songwriters on Stage at Frontier, Porter Nickerson at One Longfellow Square, and more.
Check out another a free show at Champions tonight as roots rocker Travis James Humphrey returns for a set that’ll start at 10 o’clock.
The Maine Songwriters’ Association monthly music series, Songwriters on Stage, continues tonight at Frontier in Brunswick. The event showcases some of the brightest songwriters in the state coming together to share their original compositions and stories. This month’s event features three seasoned performers alongside an emerging songwriter to kick the evening off. It’s an opportunity for listeners to discover new music as well as hear local favorites in one of the best listening rooms in Maine. Tonight’s concert gets started at 7 and will feature performances by Delilah Poupore, David Webb, emerging artist Abbie Watson, and Ben Hunsberger, who will be also be hosting tonight’s event
The Working Dead are bringing some grooves to Portland House of Music for another Happy Hour jam sesh. This trio of talented local musicians will be serving up some Grateful Dead jams during a free show that starts around 5 o’clock.

This lively bunch will be playing some great music for your midweek wind down so swing through and enjoy this free and all-ages show starting at 8.
Two of my favorite Portland players (and people) will be joining musical forces once again this evening for MJ’s Wine Bar‘s Ladies in Red music series. Starting around 8 make some plans to stop on by and check out local siren Renee Coolbrith and Portland piano man Kris Rodgers as the pair serenade you with some seriously sweet sounds during this free show.
Guitar slinger/song seeker Willy Porter and vocalist/songwriter Carmen Nickerson join forces as the musical duo Porter Nickerson. Tonight the pair brings their acoustic folk, rock and blues to the stage of One Longfellow Square for a performance that will begin around 8pm.
