The Maine Songwriters’ Association monthly music series, Songwriters on Stage, continues tonight at Frontier in Brunswick. The event showcases some of the brightest songwriters in the state coming together to share their original compositions and stories. This month’s event features three seasoned performers alongside an emerging songwriter to kick the evening off. It’s an opportunity for listeners to discover new music as well as hear local favorites in one of the best listening rooms in Maine. Tonight’s concert gets started at 7 and will feature performances by Delilah Poupore, David Webb, emerging artist Abbie Watson, and Ben Hunsberger, who will be also be hosting tonight’s event
The Working Dead are bringing some grooves to Portland House of Music for another Happy Hour jam sesh. This trio of talented local musicians will be serving up some Grateful Dead jams during a free show that starts around 5 o’clock.
Blue’s Irish Concert Series continues with a featured performance from Hanz Araki & Friends. Considered one of the most talented Irish musicians in America today, flautist, whistle player, singer, and Juno Award-winner Hanz Araki has been lauded by publications and audiences alike. Music starts at 7:30 and will be followed by another Wednesday evening Irish Session open to any and all musicians looking to get up on stage and jam.
Another free and fun night of local rock happens at Flask Lounge tonight as Port City Saints, The Worst and Spiller team up for a show that’ll get ragin’ right around 8 o’clock.
Make some plans this Wednesday evening to check out the down-home and acoustic roots sounds of David Beam and the Custom House Gang at Andy’s Old Port Pub. This lively bunch will be playing some great music for your midweek wind down so swing through and enjoy this free and all-ages show starting at 8.
Two of my favorite Portland players (and people) will be joining musical forces once again this evening for MJ’s Wine Bar‘s Ladies in Red music series. Starting around 8 make some plans to stop on by and check out local siren Renee Coolbrith and Portland piano man Kris Rodgers as the pair serenade you with some seriously sweet sounds during this free show.
Guitar slinger/song seeker Willy Porter and vocalist/songwriter Carmen Nickerson join forces as the musical duo Porter Nickerson. Tonight the pair brings their acoustic folk, rock and blues to the stage of One Longfellow Square for a performance that will begin around 8pm.
There’s more in the way of Grateful Dead jams tonight as Portland House of Music and Events welcomes back Built To Last, a Grateful Dead experience featuring members of The Working Dead, Maine Dead Project, and Smoked Salmon. The band promises to bring some good tunes and good vibes to the stage as things get underway right around 9 o’clock.
