Pugwash returns to Portland tonight for a show at Empire with An Overnight Low

Oh my, Monday, you’re doing your best to thunder punch me in the throat today, but I refuse to let you win. If you’re duking it out with this first day of the week might I suggest taking some time out and enjoying yourself this evening at any one of these fine establishments including The Marcus King Band at Port City Music Hall, Gina & The Red Eye Flight Crew at Portland House of Music, The ProfTones at Portland Lobster Company, and more!

If you’re anywhere near the Lewiston area this Monday, drop by Pedro O’Hara’s where local pop-rocker Michael Krapovicky will be hosting another installment of his weekly acoustic Open Mic event. Tonight’s free event gets underway at 6:30 and is open to all, so grab an instrument and get ready to make some music and new friends tonight!

Let some sea breezes blow your Monday blues away out on the deck of Portland Lobster Company as The ProfTones play some great blues, R&B, and rock hits at tonight’s free show. The joint starts jumpin’ right around 6 so be sure to stop on by if you’re in downtown Portland tonight.

If you’re like most people here in the US, odds are you’ve probably never heard of a band called Pugwash. In fact, you might think that the name is a term for some sort of ritual performed to make those snarffling little dogs clean, but alas, Pugwash is actually a critically acclaimed pop-rock act hailing from Ireland. Tonight the lads make their way across the pond once again for another performance at Empire in Portland. This show is truly a must-see for fans of Jellyfish, XTC, Electric Light Orchestra and basically anything and everything post-Beatles pop. Local indie rock outfit An Overnight Low will kick things off beginning at 7pm.

Andy’s Old Port Pub welcomes back local act Pretty Girls Sing Soprano to the stage to fill the space with beautiful sounds and songs. Since their inception Pretty Girls Sing Soprano have quickly turned heads with their tight, clever and original harmonies. You can check them out starting at 7 o’clock this evening.

Psychedelic-tinged Southern rock act The Marcus King Band will be performing at Port City Music Hall tonight. The band is influenced by a long list of musicians such as The Allman Brothers Band, Miles Davis, Soulive, Lettuce and many more. Tonight’s 18+ show starts at 8 with an opening set from bad ass, 70’s inspired rock n’ roll band, The Silks

Get after it tonight with another Funky Monday featuring Gina and the Red Eye Flight Crew at Portland House of Music and Events. The band, which is basically most of the members of Model Airplane, back up this talented songstress for some funk, soul and R&B jams that are guaranteed to please as the good times get rollin’ right around 9.
