Rock n’ roll with The Duke of Surl, Gant, Labor Pains & Color Hex at Mathew’s tonight

All right, we’ve got a little momentum going, so we might as well go with the flow and roll with the punches this Tuesday! There’s a ton of cool stuff to check out tonight including A Night of Amy Winehouse at Portland House of Music and Events, Zeile August at Blue, The Knocks, Bipolar Sunshine & Gillgan Moss at Port City Music Hall, an open mic with Uke n’ Smile at Sea Dog Brewing Company, and more. Here we go!


Fast Breaks in Lewiston welcomes back local folk-rock musician Brian Patricks. Patricks intertwines finger-style, rhythmic guitar with a hint of harmonica into his sets of originals and covers that span the folk, blues, roots and rock genres. Check out Patricks’ solo set as this free all-ages show starts at 7.


Local artist Zeile August performs a special solo set at Blue on Congress Street this evening. Beginning at 6 check out Zeile’s original psychedelic folk sounds.

A super fun Tuesday night rock and roll will be happening at Mathew’s as The Duke of Surl, Gant, Labor Pains, and Color Hex come together for a gig that’ll get underway at 7 o’clock.

Check out a fun night of funk jams at Andy’s Old Port Pub as Andrew Bailie performs during a free show that’ll start up at 7 tonight.

NYC production and DJ duo, The Knocks bring their melodic, carefree form of dance music to Port City Music Hall tonight for an all ages show that’ll start up at 8pm with opening sets from Bipolar Sunshine and Gilligan Moss.

Blue welcomes back the Kelly Laurence Quintet for another Tuesday evening of jazz tunes. This show gets underway at 8 o’clock.

Cherry Lemonade is back in Portland and she’ll be celebrating her 30th birthday with a night of Amy Winehouse at Portland House of Music and Events. A ton of talented local musicians and special guests will be on hand to help Cherry bring Winehouse’s soulful songs to life as this celebration of music begins at 8pm.

Check out tonight’s Open DJ Night happening at Flask Lounge.  Starting at 9 you can sign up for a slot DJing on some open decks. All you need to bring are some records, CDs, and a pair of headphones. This event is free and always a good time so go on and check it out.

Check out a free show at Gritty’s tonight as roots rocker Travis James Humphrey plays a set starting up at 9.


Local acoustic act Uke n’ Smile is back at Sea Dog Brewing Company in South Portland for another free, all-ages open mic event. All genres of music, musicians of varying skills, capabilities, and ages are welcome to join in on the fun as the music starts at 8pm.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
