See Micromasse Live in the Lounge at Frontier tonight

We are really getting after it this week! It’s already Wednesday and I feel a-okay! There’s a bunch of great stuff going on all around town and beyond so let’s join forces and do it to it at shows such as the Dapper Gents Duo at RiRa, Built To Last at Portland House of Music, Dave Rowe at Bull Feeney’s, Banjo Read at Blue, Pete Foley at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza, Don Campbell at The Frog and Turtle and more! Here we go!


Roots rocker Travis James Humphrey returns to Champions tonight for a free show that starts up at 10 o’clock.

Organ-based trio Micromasse returns to Frontier tonight as part of the venue’s Live in the Lounge Wednesday night music series. This free show will showcase the melodic and mesmerizing sounds of musicians Chris Sweet, Max Cantlin and Pete Dugas as the three combine guitar, drums and organ to create some superior instrumental jams starting right around 7:30pm.

Check out some fine banjo-based tunes at Blue‘s Irish Concert Series event tonight as they welcome local act Banjo Read for a night full of pickin’ and pluckin’. This all-ages show will get started up at 7:30.
Hurdle the hump with some acoustic roots tunes tonight as David Beam & Friends return to Andy’s Old Port Pub. This talented troupe will begin playing right around 8.

Local folk artist Dave Rowe will be performing at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port tonight. Join Rowe for some rollicking good times as this free show gets underway at 8pm.

Street Sity Surf is home for the holidays and tonight they’re bringing some blistering straight-out-of-the-basement rippers as earnest and powerful as anything that’s ever been dubbed ‘punk’ to the stage of SPACE GalleryThey’ll be joined by the twisted garage pop of Ossalot, the posi-punk theatrics of Snowhaus, and lo-fi wunderkinds Amiright? The party starts at 8 o’clock.

Get your fill of Grateful Dead jams tonight as Portland House of Music and Events welcomes back Built To Last, a Grateful Dead experience featuring members of The Working Dead, Maine Dead Project, and Smoked Salmon. The band promises to bring some good tunes and good vibes to the stage as things get underway right around 9 o’clock.

Add some folk-pop musical merriment to your midweek get down as the Dapper Gents Duo return to the stage of RiRa for another free show that starts up at 9.


Check out some open mic action happening at BeBe’s Burritos in Biddeford where you can check out local musicians do their thing or even sign up to play some songs of your own. This free and fun event gets started up at 6:30pm.

Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza welcomes back Pat Foley for some acoustic country-rock. If you’re in the area tonight make some plans to drop by as the music starts up at 7.

Maine-based adult-contemporary folk rock artist Don Campbell will be getting into the spirit of the season with a special holiday show at The Frog and Turtle tonight. This free, all-ages festive gathering gets underway at 7:30.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am.
