Shaman’s Harvest and special guests Fifth Freedom & Sygnal To Noise perform at Port City Music Hall tonight

A Happy Thursday to each and every one of you, I’m cutting straight to the chase today, so let’s do it to it! Here’s what’s the what for this thirsty Thursday evening; make some plans to check out fun shows such as Ice Cold Zima at Dirigo Brewing Company, Puddn’head at the Darrows Barn, Alex Roy at Jimmy The Greeks, Keanu Keanu at Portland Lobster Company, Viva & The Reinforcements at Fort Allen Park, Stealing North at Oasis,  Hambone & Wild Root at Portland House of Music and Events, Studio Two at Memorial Park, Pete Witham at Easy Day, and much, much more!


Emily T will be performing a solo acoustic set at 84 Court Pizza & Restaurante in Auburn tonight. Emily will be bringing a show chock full of fun cover tunes as well as some great original compositions to this free, all ages shindig starting at 7pm.


Danny & The Bluetones bring some blues and roots tune to Pickering Square in Bangor for the Cool Sounds of Summer Concert Series. This fun, free and family-friendly event will get swinging at 6pm.


90’s cover band Ice Cold Zima will be rockin’ the night away at Dirigo Brewing Company in Biddeford this Thirsty Thursday. Travel back to a time of JNCO jeans, bucket hats, and bowl cuts with some cover tunes of No Doubt, Fiona Apple, The Cardigans, 4 Non Blondes, Green Day, Lauryn Hill, Bonnie Raitt, Stone Temple Pilots, Alanis Morissette, and more as things get jumpin’ right around 7:30.


Organ-based trio Micromasse will be performing at the Standard Gastropub in Bridgton tonight as part of the pub’s summer music series. This free show will feature the melodic and mesmerizing sounds of musicians Chris Sweet, Max Cantlin and Pete Dugas as the three combine guitar, drums and organ to create some superior instrumental jams starting right around 5 o’clock.


The Juke Rockets bring their high-energy Chicago and delta blues to the Camden Library Amphitheatre this evening. Join these talented Midcoast musicians as they take the stage for this free show right around 7pm.


Acoustic act Uke n’ Smile will be hosting another open mic event over at The Local Buzz. All musicians of varying skills and genres are welcome to get up on the microphone and perform as things get underway right around 7:30pm.


Acoustic act Uke n’ Smile will be performing at the Cumberland Good Company‘s Grill Night. Enjoy some good food and good tunes during this family-friendly event as the fun gets underway right around 5 o’clock.


Oxbow, in partnership with the Damariscotta River Association, will be presenting an evening of music at Darrows Barn this Thursday evening. Maine locals, Puddn’head will be providing an evening of bluegrass for you to enjoy some Oxbow beer and local food truck goodies to. Tickets are $5 with a portion of proceeds going to benefit the DRA as things get underway at 6pm.



Toby McAllister of local pop-rock band Sparks The Rescue will be performing a solo, acoustic set out on the Pirate Patio in OOB this afternoon. Starting at 4pm Toby will be performing some of his favorite STR originals as well as some covers of popular tunes from the past 20 plus years.

Pop-rock and roller Alex Roy will be performing a set of original tunes and cover songs at Jimmy The Greek’s this Thirsty Thursday. Tonight’s event is free and sure to be a good time so swing through if you’re in the area as the music starts up at 7.

Local party band The GE3ks are bringing some of the best 80’s pop, dance, New Wave, hard rock, rap and one hit wonder tunes to The Pier Patio Pub once again tonight. Shake your groove thing out on the dance floor as this free show gets swinging at 9.

American Ride will be busting out a bunch of modern country covers for you to boogie down to this evening as they play a free show at The Brunswick beginning at 8pm.


Rippin’ rock n’ roll band Riot Act goes quiet for an acoustic set out on the deck of The Porthole. Enjoy some fun party tunes as things get crankin’ during this free shindig starting at 6 o’clock.

Singer Viva will be bringing her vivacious vocals to Fort Allen Park on the Eastern Prom alongside her talented band, The Reinforcements, as they present an evening of jazz standards, funk, soul, and Latin tunes. This free, family-friendly and fun show starts up at 6:30pm in the gazebo.

Portland psychedelic folk-rocker Dominic Lavoie and a couple of his friends come together this evening to play some tunes as Keanu Keanu at Portland Lobster Company. Check out a set of both original jams and cover tunes as this free shindig gets swinging around 6:30.

Soul, funk, rock, Afrobeat, Latin, and hip-hop influenced band, Akela Moon will be partying out on the patio of Slab as part the restaurant’s summer music series. Enjoy some delicious pizza as you take in some summertime tunes as this free and all-ages show starts at 7pm.

Get your Thursday underway with lots of stringed things, foot stomping, and good times as Andy’s Old Port Pub welcomes back Mountain Emergency for an evening filled with bluegrass music. This free event is all ages and gets underway right around 7 o’clock.

Portland’s professional Klezmer band, The Casco Bay Tummlers, return to the stage of Blue this evening for a performance filled with traditional Eastern European Jewish compositions. Tonight’s show gets started right at 7pm.

MB Padfield brings her fun fusion of pop, rock, blues, jazz and hip-hop elements back to Brian Boru tonight. Check out Padfield’s impressive guitar skills and smoky vocals as things get underway at 7:30 followed by dance songs spun by DJ Tiny Dancer.

Post-grunge hard rock band Shaman’s Harvest will be partying it up at Port City Music Hall tonight. Heavy-hitting, local rock n’ roll acts Fifth Freedom and Sygnal To Noise will get things cranking right around 8 with opening sets that’ll fire off this all ages show.

Acoustic duo Stealing North, which features Neal Jandreau and Tom Doucette, will be playing all kinds of fun covers out on the Oasis patio tonight. Join these fellas from some music as things get underway at 9.

Mellow your mind with some stellar jams at Gritty’s during another fun night with the one and only A Band Beyond Description. Far more than just your typical Grateful Dead cover band, these fellas jam out on everything from Phish, the Allman Brothers, The Band and more. Anticipate good times, good tunes and good people starting right around 9.

Check out the funkadelic sounds of Hambone as the band brings the party to Portland House of Music and Events. Lots of rock and funk jams will be happening as well as some reggae, blues and hip-hop courtesy of opening act, Wild Root. Things get underway right around 9 o’clock tonight.

Ben Kilcollins & The Vargas Twins will be hanging out at RiRa for some sweet, acoustic action. You know Ben from his time spent pop-rockin’ with his band Kilcollins, but this evening he teams up with the talented Vargas Twins for some fun cover tunes and originals starting right around 9 o’clock.

Three talented singer-songwriters from right here in Portland will be teaming up once again for another evening of songs and stories over at Blue. Starting at 9 check out another In The Round Event featuring Max Garcia Conover, Griffin Sherry and Max Davis as they come together on stage to share their own original roots, Americana, and folk compositions.


Adult-contemporary folk artist Don Campbell returns to the Kerrymen Pub this evening. Check out Campbell’s solo set as the music starts during this free show at 6:30pm.


Boston-based Beatles tribute band, Studio Two, takes you back to a time when the world first met the Fab Four and fell in love with a group of mop-haired lads from Liverpool. Studio Two plays a plethora of Beatles favorites from their early years during a high-energy show, which features the four fellas decked out in full 60s garb. Studio Two is a must for any George, Paul, John and Ringo fans so be sure to catch their set this evening as part of the Scarborough Summer Concerts in the Park Series at Memorial Park. This free and family-friendly concert starts up at 6:30pm.

Locally based party band Girls Just Want To Have Fun bring another night filled with ‘80s pop, dance, New Wave, hard rock, rap and one hit wonder tunes to the stage of the Landing at Pine Point. Shake your groove thing out on the dance floor as the party starts at 7:30.


Pete Witham returns to Easy Day in South Portland this evening with some more fun Americana and rockabilly music this Thursday. Pete will most likely be joined by a rotating cast of characters as they bring the good times and tunes to this free show, that’ll start up at 6pm.




Holly Nunan

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
