Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street will be hosting local act The Gather Rounders for a free, all-age show this Thursday. Starting at 7, check out this string band that blends traditional and progressive bluegrass and folk into a lush mix of clean harmonies, inventive pickin’ and solid grooves.
Mayo Street Arts’ International Heritage Music Series will feature the music of Newpoli this evening. Newpoli performs music from the South of Italy laced with influences from all of the surrounding Mediterranean cultures. The act plays original songs mixed with arrangements of traditional music. You can see them tonight as the show begins at 7:30pm.
It’s probably been a solid 2+ years since local rock act Sidecar Radio brought the thunder and properly rocked and rolled on stage together. Thankfully the fellas will be reuniting for one night only to melt faces straight off the bone for a show that’s certain to deliver. Massachusetts based indie rock duo You Won’t will be performing live at One Longfellow Square this evening. Their dynamic and enthusiastically unorthodox live performances have earned them support slots with The Lumineers, The Joy Formidable, Josh Ritter, Deer Tick, Lucius, The Antlers, and more. Tonight they’re joined by Jocelyn Mackenzie of Pearl and the Beard, who will open tonight’s show with a set starting at 8.
The State Theatre welcomes R&B-inspired pop vocalist SoMo to the stage tonight. SoMo’s cover tunes led to a major-label contract and a Top Ten debut album. You can check him out alongside Quinn XCII and Academy as tonight’s all ages show gets underway at 8.
SPACE Gallery welcomes artist Julianna Barwick to the stage this evening. Barwick uses looped, wordless vocals and the occasional piano to build lush, ambient folk soundscapes. Get your noodle on this Friday evening by scooting your pooch down to Port City Music Hall on Congress Street as Dead Sessions bring their authentic but unique renditions of Grateful Dead classics to life starting right around 9 o’clock.
Empire’s monthly music event that celebrates all things roots and Americana happens once again tonight as they welcome Chris Ross & The North, Jesse Ahern & The Roots Rock Rebel Revue, and Town Meeting with special guest Amanda Bonnevie to the stage for an evening of mighty fine music during this installment of Roots in the Attic. String plucking, foot-stomping and soul-singing will get underway upstairs beginning at 9pm.
