The Boothbay Opera House welcomes The Scotti River Trio this evening. With combined musical experience of over a century, The Scotti River Trio will not disappoint. These three fine musicians will run the gamut of vintage acoustic folk to down-home blues, with a few covers as well as originals.Join Scott Elliot, Steve Jones and Paul Mellyn for an enjoyable evening of tunes as things start up at 7pm.

Uke n’ Smile returns to the Local Buzz this evening for another open mic event. All musicians of different skill sets as well as genres are welcome as this free and all-ages creative gathering gets underway at 7:30.

Local act Alter Igor returns to rock out at The Liberal Cup tonight with their party-starting classic rock tunes. The band will be playing everything from Nick Lowe to The Who and many, many more iconic rock n’ rollers as they get things underway inside at 8.
Local band, Maine Man will be bringing some homegrown rhythms to a 4/20 Party at Woodland Farms Brewery in Kittery this evening. Join these talented fellas for some rock, funk, and reggae songs to dance to as this free show starts up at 6 o’clock.
Rails in Lewiston welcomes back Maine musician Peter Carriveau for an evening full of terrific tunes. Peter has numerous influences from folk to Americana to rock. During this free, all-ages show that starts up at 5:30, you’re likely to hear songs by artists such as Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Gram Parsons, Steve Goodman, Van Morrison, The Beatles, Steve Earl, Ray Lamontagne, and many more, so be sure to stop by if you’re in the area this evening.
Tonight Blue will welcome blues, funk and soul guitarist and singer-songwriter, Andrew Bailie to the stage alongside special guests Mimi Tanski and Nina Ciffolillo for a performance that will begin at 7pm.
Andy’s Old Port Pub welcomes back local act Pretty Girls Sing Soprano to fill their space with some beautiful sounds. Since their inception Pretty Girls Sing Soprano have quickly turned heads with their tight, clever and original harmonies. You can check them out starting at 7 o’clock this evening.
Rock and roll into Thursday with a fun show happening at Lone Pine Brewing Company as killer line up of rockin’ acts come together to play some high-energy punk and rock and roll! Starting at 8 enjoy some locally brewed beer and locally made music from No Good, Jimmy Jacked, Slow Coyote, and Breakfast Lunch and Dinner.
The Portland Jazz Orchestra returns to One Longfellow Square tonight. This 18-piece jazz ensemble performs a variety of traditional and contemporary big band literature. The PJO plays works written by members such as Craig Skeffington, Willie Johnson, Chris Humphrey and Terry White in addition to literature composed by a variety of jazz artists including Tom Kubis, Matt Harris, Bob Mintzer, Bill Holman and Maria Schneider. Tonight they’ll be joined by the Westbrook High School Jazz Ensemble as music starts up at 8pm.
Michigan-based experimental noise band, Wolf Eyes bring their sonic explorations to the stage of SPACE Gallery tonight. They’ll be joined by by like-minded and uncompromsing sonic-explorers, Wei Zhongle and Providence’s Lingua Ignota. This all ages event gets underway at 8:30pm.
A perfect event to help celebrate the day is happening at Portland House of Music and Events as they present Grateful Bob Mitchell. This evening’s festivities begin at 9pm and will feature renditions and improvisations of Grateful Dead, Bob Marley, and Joni Mitchell material by members of Strangefolk, Percy Hill, Dead Set, and more.
Ben Kilcollins & The Vargas Twins are back at RiRa tonight for some sweet, acoustic action. You know Ben from his time spent pop-rockin’ as the frontman of the band Kilcollins, but this evening he teams up with the talented Vargas Twins for some fun cover tunes and originals starting right around 9.
Tonight Blue on Congress Street welcomes local act Zapion as they present some classic belly dance music from the Turkish, Arab and Armenian traditions. Tonight Zapion will be joined by Vivian Vice, a dancer from New England’s thriving belly dance community, as things get underway at 9pm.
Tonight Port City Music Hall will host Light It Up! A 420 reggae celebration featuring performances by Mighty Mystic, BDLabs Sound System and Skyfoot. This 18+ vibe-fest gets underway at 9 o’clock.
Mellow your mind with some stellar jams at Gritty’s during another fun night with the one and only A Band Beyond Description. Far more than just your typical Grateful Dead cover band, these fellas jam out on everything from Phish, the Allman Brothers, The Band and more. Anticipate good times, good tunes and good people starting right around 9.
Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am.
