The Merrymeeting Community Band will be bringing some big band sounds to the Music on the Mall summer concert series this evening. Join the band for some big fun as this free outdoor show starts up at 6:30.
Organ-based trio Micromasse will be playing a free show at Frontier this evening as part of the venue’s Live in the Lounge music series. If you’re in the area tonight be sure to stop by and check out the melodic and mesmerizing sounds of musicians Chris Sweet, Max Cantlin and Pete Dugas as the three combine guitar, drums and organ to pump out some superior instrumental jams starting at 7:30pm.

Pop-rock and roller Alex Roy will be performing a set of original tunes and cover songs out on the patio of The Brunswick. Tonight’s event is free and sure to be fun so swing through if you’re in the area this Thursday as the music starts up at 7 o’clock.
The Working Dead are bringing some grooves out on to the patio of Portland House of Music and Events this Wednesday. This trio of talented artists will be serving up some Happy Hour Grateful Dead jams during a free show that starts at 5pm outside on the patio.
The Porthole on Commercial Street welcomes back local singer-songwriter Isaiah Bennett for a set of songs this evening. Starting at 6 check out Isaiah’s distinctive mix of acoustic pop and funk during this free and fun event.
Will Mallett of local alt-country act The Mallett Brothers Band will be performing alongside a few friends out on the Portland Lobster Company deck. Join Will and company as this free, all-ages shindig gets swinging around 6:30pm.
Blue’s Irish Concert Series continues with a featured performance from local musicians Liz and Dan Faiella. The pair’s performance begins at 7:30pm and will be directly followed by another Wednesday evening Irish Session open jam that welcomes any and all musicians on stage to make some music.
Earth, the Dylan Carlson-led project based in Seattle whose sporadic bursts of ambient metal has continuously wowed critics, will be performing live at SPACE Gallery tonight. Portland’s own doom and drone act, All Night (featuring members of Conifer, Ocean, and Lynx) and gothic-folkies, Ada (formerly known as Butcher Boy) will open the night as things get underway at 8pm.
New wave revivalists, The Wombats are playing at 18+ show at Port City Music Hall tonight. Also on the bill is Philly power-pop trio Cheerleader who’ll get things started up with a set beginning at 8pm.
Check out some heavy hitting prog- and alt-rock at Flask Lounge tonight as The Maension, Fundetta, Interloc and Mechanical Banshees join forces for some tunes tonight. This free show gets started at 8pm.
Check out the down-home, acoustic roots sounds of David Beam and the Custom House Gang at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in Portland this Wednesday. This lively bunch will be playing some great music for your midweek wind down so swing through and enjoy this free show starting at 8.
Over at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port you can check out another fun evening of folk tunes with local musician Dave Rowe. Rowe will be making music that pairs perfectly with an ice cold pint of beer, so swing through and check him out if you’re in the downtown area this evening.
Catch some great tunes tonight at Portland House of Music as musicians Doug Emery, Justin Maxwell, Joshua M. Robbins, Christopher Sweet, Tim Sullivan and Ryan Benoit come together on stage once again as The Maine Dead Project as part of the band’s summer residency. These talented fellas will be performing songs from the Grateful Dead and more as things get underway at 9pm.
