Another Tuesday is upon us and we should all sort of be back into the swing of things. Even though the week has just begun, it’s never too early to lace up your rage shoes and pour yourself back into those Party Pants because tonight is looking to be a fun one! Get out there and take in tunes at such shows as Ice Cold Zima at Portland House of Music and Events, The Exchange: An Open Mic at The Thirsty Pig, The Grumps at Portland Lobster Company, Travis Cyr at Blue, Rhythm & Tues with The Class Reunion at Empire and more!
Everyone’s favorite soul singing dude, Lyle Divinsky is ready once again to lay down some smooth soul, cool funk and rapturous R&B for another free show out on the patio of Portland House of Music and Events tonight. Lyle will be serenading you from 4 to 7, so stop through and check him out.
Check out some fun pop-rock tunes courtesy of local act The Grumps as they play a free show out on the Portland Lobster Company deck this Tuesday evening. These talented fellas will get the good times rollin’ during this all ages event right around 6:30pm.
Enjoy some acoustic tunes from local singer-songwriter Bill Howard as he returns to Andy’s Old Port Pub this evening. This free all ages show will start at 7 o’clock.
Check out The Thirsty Pig’s monthly Open Mic event, The Exchange. The Exchange is a gathering that’s open to any and all artists looking to collaborate, showcase, and workshop their own original material in front of an audience of peers and music-lovers alike. All ages, genres and musical abilities are encouraged to join in on the fun as hosts Jim Betts and Joel Thetford get things swinging at 7:30.
90’s cover band Ice Cold Zima kicks off their Tuesday night summer series at Portland House of Music and Events tonight. Get your groove on to tunes from such acts as No Doubt, Fiona Apple, The Cardigans, 4 Non Blondes, Green Day, Lauryn Hill, Bonnie Raitt, Stone Temple Pilots, Alanis Morissette, and more as the party gets jumping right around 8 o’clock.
Flask Lounge hosts another Open Mic for DJs with a free dance party that encourages up and coming record spinners and producers to take a chance and get up on the tables during this fun event. All you need to bring are your records, CDs and controller. All formats of music are welcome. Tonight’s DJ open mic begins at 9pm.
Don’t miss a performance from one of the County’s finest folks as musician Travis Cyr returns to Portland this evening for a show at Blue. You’ll want to make your way over to this intimate and awesome venue to check out the terrific folk and Americana tunes from Cyr as the music starts at 9 o’clock.
Empire’s new summer music series, Rhythm & Tues, kicks off tonight with cover band The Class Reunion. The band features a ton of talented local players that I’m quite certain will be kicking out the jams for you to bust a move or two to this Tuesday so swing through and have some fun as the party starts at 9 o’clock.
Local act Starcrossed Losers will celebrate the release of their record tonight with a performance at Blue. Starcrossed Losers is the music of Kyle Morgan, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist working with a rotating cast of bandmates from Maine to Pennsylvania. Tonight’s performance will range in style from stripped-down acoustic balladry to old-school rock n’ roll, gritty gypsy-blues and distorted proto-punk. Things start up at 10 o’clock.
Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
