The Maine Dead Project returns to Portland House of Music and Events tonight

Holy Hot Pockets, I am absolutely ready for this week to cut it out already! At least I can find solace in the fact that it’s Wednesday and we’re half way there, right? That being said, it’s time for me to suck it up and get on out there this evening. Here are the haps for your midweek party report, which include such shindigs as Eric Bettencourt & Friends at Portland Lobster Company, Never Been To Tennessee at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza, The Delta Knights at Riverbank Park, Travis James Humphrey at Champions, Pete Witham at The Frog and Turtle, and more!


Roots rocker Travis James Humphrey returns to Champions tonight for another free, solo set that’ll start up right around 9:30 this evening.


Don Hebert of local classic cover act The Veggies goes solo for a show at Pedro O’Hara’s tonight. Don will be bringing a show chock full of fun and danceable cover tunes to this free, all ages shindig starting at 7pm.


Local pop-rock musician Alex Roy is back at The Brunswick tonight. Roy will be joined by a few musically inclined pals for some original tunes and cover songs. Tonight’s event is free and sure to be a good time so swing through if you’re in the area as the music starts up at 7.


The Porthole welcomes back local singer-songwriter Isaiah Bennett this evening as he performs a set of his own original acoustic pop and funk songs as well as some fun covers. Things get started at 6 o’clock so stop through and check it out if you’re downtown this evening.

Eric Bettencourt is still playing around town and tonight he’ll be joining a few friends once again out on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company for some musical merriment. I anticipate lots of good times and good tunes as this free show starts up at 6:30pm showcasing many of Eric’s original Americana, roots and folks tunes as well as some catchy covers.

Andy’s Old Port Pub welcomes singer-songwriter Karen McDine tonight for an all ages, acoustic performance that will get underway at 7pm.

Boston-based traditional folk singer, guitarist, and bouzouki player Lindsay Straw is celebrating the release of her second solo album “The Fairest Flower of Womankind” at Irish Night at Blue. Joining her will be Portland-based guitarist and bouzouki player Owen Marshall. Things get underway at 7:30pm.

Maine-based folk musician Dave Rowe is back at Bull Feeney’s tonight. Join Rowe for some good times and good tunes as this free show begins at 8pm.

Mellow your mind with some midweek music over at Portland House of Music and Events as The Maine Dead Project returns to the stage as part of their summer residency tonight. These talented musicians will be performing songs from the Grateful Dead and other beloved jam bands as things get underway at 9pm.

Folk-pop-rock act the Dapper Gents Duo returns to RiRa for some good times and good tunes tonight. This free party gets started at 9 o’clock.

More midweek fun will be happening at Crooners & Cocktails tonight as Hello Clarice brings some fun tunes to your Wednesday. Hello Clarice features the vocal stylings of Clarence “Jim” Roberts of Hello Newman and the musical mastery of pianist Mike Maurice. The pair will be playing everything from Sinatra to Ocean — Billy Ocean that is. Things get underway during this free show right around 9:30pm.


Hurdle the hump by taking in some tunes out in Riverbank Park as local act The Delta Knights bring some R&B, blues, soul, funk, swing, rock, jazz and more to this all ages and free shindig that’ll start up at 6pm.

Local country act Never Been To Tennessee will be singing some songs at Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza tonight. Starting at 7 Scott Girouard and Kevin Ward will be serving up classic country covers from such artists as Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and a whole lot more during this free, all ages show.

Local artist Pete Witham returns to The Frog and Turtle tonight for some fun Americana and rockabilly tunes that are guaranteed to help you hurdle the hump this Wednesday. Pete will be joined by his regular rotating cast of musically inclined characters as this free, all-ages performance gets underway right around 7:30.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
