Local outfit The Tom Luther Quintet will be performing some vibrant jazz tunes Live in the Lounge of the Frontier tonight. The act’s sound draws equally from the worlds of jazz, European Classical, and ambient music. You can see them for free as music gets started up around 7:30 tonight.
Locally guitarist, singer and songwriter Dave Jacquet will be hosting another free Open Mic up at Cole Farms in Gray this Wednesday. Starting at 7 all musicians are welcome to join in on the fun and jam out on stage with Dave and a few of his friends, so be sure to grab your instrument of choice and let the creative energy flow!
The Working Dead are back at Portland House of Music and Events this Wednesday. This trio of talented gentlemen will be serving up some Happy Hour jams during a free show that starts at 4:30pm. Check out the act’s fun covers of the Grateful Dead and as well as other classic jam band tunes.
Portland Lobster Company welcomes local act, Downeast Soul Coalition, to the deck for a midweek party chock full of some solid funk and soul sounds. This free, all ages shindig will get shaking right around 6:30.
The Patio Presents an awesome midweek show of great music over at the Empire tonight. Beginning at 7 check out sets from Beverly, Mass alt-rock act Valleyheart, some indie alt-rock from Portland band Acadia, the acoustic jams of Maine outfit Hours North, and the noise rock of local act Rick Rude.
Blue’s Irish Concert Series continues with a featured performance from musical duo Audrey & Clayton. Music starts at 7:30 and will be followed by another Wednesday evening Irish Session open to any and all musicians looking to get up on stage and jam.
The Milk Carton Kids return to Portland for a live performance at the State Theatre this Wednesday evening. The California duo will bring their unique brand of contemporary indie folk to life tonight alongside opening act Margaret Glapsy as this all-ages show starts up at 8 o’clock.
Former Attack Attack! vocalist Caleb Shomo explores some raw and driving hardcore sounds with his current band Beartooth as they bring the thunder to the stage of Port City Music Hall tonight. Also on tonight’s bill are Stray From The Path, My Ticket Home and Former. This all ages show gets cranking right around 8.
If you’re looking for to tap your toes to some some down-home, acoustic roots tunes tonight then look no further than Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in downtown Portland where local act David Beam and The Custom House Gang will be playing a free show starting at 8 o’clock.
The Squid Jiggers return to the stage of Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port this evening with their own brand of folk music that’s infused with barley, sugar, yeast and hops, basically some good ol’ fashioned drinking tunes! Tonight the fellas get the good times rollin’ right around 8.
A big ol’ pre-party for this Friday’s upcoming Go Big For Hunger event will be happening at Portland House of Music and Events tonight. This evening enjoy funky, jam-filled sets from The Brewins, The Working Dead, and the Mike Taylor Trio as they help support this terrific cause. There’ll be tons of music and raffle prizes too. Go Big For Hunger was created to raise money to support the network of frontline organizations feeding hungry Maine kids and inspiring self-reliance. Tonight’s event gets underway at 8pm.
