The State Theatre welcomes Mastodon with Eagles of Death Metal & Russian Circles tonight

I hope you all were successful in your quest to tell Monday to pound sand and that you were able to enjoy your evening to the fullest by taking in some live, local jams. If you’re on a roll and looking for more of the same this evening then get ready to do it to it once again this Tuesday by checking out such shows as Ronda Dale at Andy’s Old Port Pub, Choro Louco at Blue, Battery Steele, Adulting & Black Box Recover at Empire, KYOTY & DJ Remy Brecht at Geno’s, and more! Here we go!

Explosive post-hardcore quintet, I Prevail brings their Life Lines Tour to Aura tonight alongside special guests Starset and VAMPs. Nominated as Alternative Press Music Awards’ 2016 “Breakthrough Band”, I Prevail employs a blistering blend of metalcore, pop-punk, and post-hardcore that invokes names like Bring Me the Horizon, We Came as Romans, and A Day to Remember. Tonight’s 18+ show starts up at 6.

Another free and all ages show happens at Andy’s Old Port Pub this evening as they welcome back local singer-songwriter Ronda Dale to the stage for an acoustic performance that will begin at 7pm.

I am so goddamn excited for tonight’s State Theatre show as I have been in dire need of a Rock and Roll Reset and I know that that is exactly what’s gonna go down during this Tuesday night metal mayhem extravaganza. Things get underway at 7:30 with post-rock and metal trio, Russian Circles, and the tongue-in-cheek swagger of classic bluesy rock act, Eagles of Death Metal, followed by headliners, Mastodon, who promise to deliver many righteous riffs, dynamic vocal harmonies and just the appropriate amount of sludgy swagger. Tickets are still available, so make some moves to have your face properly melted this Tuesday. I. Can’t. Wait.

Check out some tunes by Portland’s Brazilian choro ensemble, Choro Louco, as they play another show at Blue. Choro Louco features local musicians Carl Dimow, Nicole Rabata, Joel Eckhaus, Eric LaPerna, and David Newsmam. This evening’s performance begins at 8:30pm.

Roots rocker Travis James Humphrey returns to Gritty’s tonight for another free, solo set that’ll start up right around 9 o’clock this evening.

If you’re looking to let loose this Tuesday with some punk rock and roll then be sure to check out this week’s Three for 3 at Empire as they welcome Battery Steele, Adulting and Black Box Recovery to the stage for some live and local tunes. This shindig, which is only $3 to attend, is guaranteed to be a party as things start up at 9pm.

Another Open DJ Night is happening at Flask Lounge.  Starting at 9, you can sign up for a slot DJing on some open tables and all you need to bring are some records, CDs, and a pair of headphones! This event is absolutely free and always a good time, so go on and check it out.

After Mastodon, Eagles of Death Metal and Russian Circles bring the thunder to the State Theatre, there’ll be an after party at Geno’s in honor of this thunderous occasion. This extension to the evening will feature the acclaimed atmospheric sludge band, KYOTY, as well as a set of tunes spun by DJ Remy Brecht. Things start up at 10:30.

Acoustic act Uke n’ Smile returns to Sea Dog Brewing Company in South Portland for another open mic this Tuesday evening. All artists of different skills and genres are welcome as this free, creative gathering gets underway at 8.
