Thompson’s Point presents My Morning Jacket with special guest Gary Clark, Jr. tonight

It’s time to take this thing to limit once again this Tuesday! It’s another summer evening full of fun things to do, so hike up your party jorts and get ‘er doing! Check out shows such as The Woodshed Mystics at Bayside Bowl, Frank Fotusky at Blue, Mome, Lacuna & Boat Dares at Empire, Toby McAllister at Easy Day, Keanu Keanu at Portland Lobster Company, and more!


Check out some soul, R&B and blues tunes from The Youngerbloods as the local act plays a free show at Fast Breaks beginning at 7 o’clock.


The Woodshed Mystics will be performing a free show up on the rooftop deck of Bayside Bowl as part of their Sunset Music on the Roof series.  Beginning at 6 you can check out the band’s upbeat roots and acoustic tunes that span such genres as folk, soft rock and adult alternative. Anticipate lots of harmonies, a hint of reggae, some calypso and maybe even a bit of bluegrass during this fun, outdoor shindig.

The Porthole on Commercial Street welcomes back Dan Merrill to the deck this evening for a set that’ll feature a variety of acoustic rock, pop and folk covers and originals. Tonight’s show is free and starts up at 6 o’clock.

My Morning Jacket brings their sonic experimentation that encompasses everything from indie rock and alt-country to neo-psychedelia, funk, prog, and reggae, back to Portland tonight for what is sure to be a party at Thompson’s Point. Tickets are still available so scoop some up and make sure you get there for the start of the show with opener Gary Clark Jr. who’ll be laying down some soul and blues infused guitar tunes for ya. This all-ages event gets underway at 6 o’clock.

Enjoy an evening of acoustic blues, guitar rags and original compositions performed on both 6 and 12-string guitar as Frank Fotusky returns to Blue tonight for a show that’ll start up right around 6:30pm.

Portland psychedelic folk-rocker Dominic Lavoie and a couple of his friends come together this evening to play some tunes as Keanu Keanu over at Portland Lobster Company. Check out a set of both original jams and cover tunes as this free shindig gets swinging around 6:30pm.

Another free and all ages show happens at Andy’s Old Port Pub as they welcome back local singer-songwriter Ronda Dale to the stage for an acoustic performance that will begin at 7pm.

Check out some tunes by Brazilian choro ensemble, Choro Louco, as they play a show at Blue. Choro Louco features local musicians Carl Dimow, Nicole Rabata, Joel Eckhaus, Eric LaPerna, and David Newsmam. This evening’s performance begins at 8:30pm.

Roots rocker Travis James Humphrey returns to Gritty’s tonight for another free, solo set that’ll start up right around 9 o’clock.

Another Open DJ Night is happening at Flask Lounge. Beginning at 9, you can sign up for a slot DJing on some open decks. All you need to bring are some records, CDs, and a pair of headphones. This event is absolutely free so go on and check it out.

Empire’s Three for 3 series continues tonight with 3 local acts bringing the rock and/or roll to the stage with some high-energy sets of original jams. Beginning at 9 make your way upstairs to check out tunes from Mome, Lacuna and Boat Dares.


Toby McAllister of local pop-rock band Sparks The Rescue will be performing a solo, acoustic set at Easy Day tonight. Starting at 6pm Toby will be performing some of his favorite STR originals as well as some covers of popular tunes from the past 20 plus years.

Acoustic act Uke n’ Smile returns to the Sea Dog Brewing Company in South Portland tonight for another open mic. All artists of different skill levels and genres are welcome as this free, creative gathering gets underway at 8.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
