Miss Maybell & Slimpickin’s bring some old time tunes to Andy’s Old Port Pub tonight. This Jackson, NH band will be playing some Americana, jug band, ragtime, blues, jazz, and country from the 1920’s and 30’s during this free, all-ages show.
Blue welcomes back the Kelly Laurence Quartet to the stage for an evening of jazz tunes. Tonight’s show gets underway at 8 o’clock.
Check out tonight’s Open Mic geared towards DJs and producers at Flask Lounge on Spring Street. This weekly event allows record spinners to take a chance up on the decks alongside local DJ and host Kid Ray. All you need to participate are some records, CDs and a controller. All formats of music are welcome as things get cranking right around 9.
Portland House of Music and Events’ musical series, Under The Influence rolls on this Tuesday. The series which showcases local band’s original compositions alongside cover tunes from acts that have helped influence the band’s sound along the way is both fun and informative. Tonight local act Johnny Cremains brings their intense live performance which mixes slow heavy, riffs with piano, sharp vocals, and dark imagery for a sort of lounge-act-from-hell feel (in a good way of course) to the stage alongside Portland’s own all-female power-pop, rock and roll outfit Tiger Bomb. Things get underway at 9 with both original songs and covers from such influences as The Sweet, Portishead, The Creation, Oingo Boingo, Angelo Badalamenti and more.
Open Mic night continues at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port with local folk-pop musician Jacob McCurdy playing and emceeing this free event. Tonight Jacob invites one and all to show off their stuff starting right around 9.
Local roots rocker Travis James Humphrey returns to Gritty’s in the Old Port tonight for a solo set starting at 9. This show is totally free and guaranteed to be a great way to spend a Tuesday evening, so swing through if you’re in downtown tonight!
