Fat Knuckle Freddy is back at Blue tonight. Freddy is a composer, instrumentalist and a songwriter who plays and composes American Primitive Music on cigar box, resonator, Weissenborn, acoustic and fretless guitars. Check out this early evening of tunes as things get underway at 7.
Don’t miss the Thirsty Pig’s Open Mic event known as The Exchange this evening. The Exchange, which happens each and every Tuesday, is a gathering open to any and all artists looking to collaborate, showcase, and workshop their own original material. All ages, genres and musical abilities are encouraged to join in on the fun with hosts Jim Betts and Joel Thetford as things get swinging right around 7:30.
Richmond-based Lucy Dacus will be performing at One Longfellow Square this Tuesday evening. Rolling Stones states that Dacus “has a knack for writing disarmingly open indie rock songs, with plainspoken lyrics that hit even harder thanks to her soft, sturdy alto.” Check her out alongside local openers Lisa/Liza and Ada (formerly Butcher Boy) as things get underway at 8 o’clock.
Portland House of Music and Events’ musical series, Under The Influence rolls on this tonight with two terrific local bands. The series, which showcases local acts’ original compositions alongside cover tunes from acts that have helped influence the local acts’ sound, is both fun and informative. Tonight Portland based 10-piece indie pop act Monarck Lisa joins soul, funk, rock, Afrboeat, Latin, and hip-hop influenced band Akela Moon on stage for a night of epic jams. Things get underway at 9 with both original songs and covers from such artists as Steely Dan, Santana, Prince, Pink Floyd and more, so be sure to check it out this Tuesday evening.
Texas native Joel Thetford returns to Blue this evening for a Tuesday featuring his original country and Americana compositions. Since relocating to Portland, Joel has become a fixture in the songwriting community and has shared the stage with such acts as The Mallett Brothers Band, North of Nashville, Jake Hill & Deep Creek, Joe Gallant & the Transit, Diesel Doug and the Long Haul Truckers, and many more. See him for yourself in this truly unique and intimate setting as things get underway at 9.
Check out some roots rock at Gritty’s in the Old Port as local musician Travis James Humphrey returns to play a solo show this Tuesday evening. Humphrey will be doing his thing starting up right around 9.
Flask Lounge in Portland is hosting another open mic event that is designed for DJs and producers. Tonight’s open mic allows up-and-coming artists to take a chance up on the decks. All you need to participate are some records, CDs and a controller. All formats of music are welcome as music starts spinning around 9 o’clock.
