Wednesday Night Punk Rock Show at Flask Lounge with The Digs, Ray’s Occult, Gant & NOT30

Doing it to it slowly but surely this week as we make our way into Wednesday! There’s a bunch of awesome things to check out tonight to help you hurdle the hump so don’t snooze on such shows as Jonee Earthquake Band at the Bangor Public Library, The Mallett Brothers Band at Mine Oyster, Downeast Soul Coalition at Portland Lobster Company, Blue’s Irish Concert Series with Allison DeGroot & Jack Devereux, Happy Folk at Andy’s Old Port Pub, Rap Night at Aura, Neal Jandreau’s Album Release at Empire and much more. Here we go!


Tonight the Bangor Public Library hosts NH act, Jonee Earthquake Band. The band plays a wide variety of mostly original music ranging from 60’s style surf instrumentals, to alternate country rock, to 50’s style rockabilly, and to their own brand of garage/punk. Check ‘em out as this free and all-ages show starts up at 7 o’clock.


Local roots-rocker Travis James Humphrey will be serving up some traditional Irish tunes along with his usual repertoire of fun tunes over at Champions in Biddeford beginning at 6pm.


Local alt-country rockers, The Mallett Brothers Band are geared up for a show up at the Mine Oyster in Boothbay Harbor tonight. Boot stompin’, whiskey drinkin’, and guitar slingin’ gets underway right around 9.


Don Hebert of local classic cover act The Veggies goes solo for a show at Pedro O’Hara’s tonight. Don will be bringing a show chock full of fun and danceable cover tunes to this free, all ages shindig starting at 7pm.


Acoustic Americana act Double Entendre will be playing a Happy Hour set at TJ’s Pizzeriain North Monmouth this evening. This talented duo will start making some savory sounds starting right around 5:30pm.


Local pop-rock musician Alex Roy is back at The Brunswick tonight with some original tunes and cover songs. Tonight’s event is free and sure to be a good time so swing through if you’re in the area as the music starts up at 7.


The Porthole welcomes back local singer-songwriter Isaiah Bennett this evening as he performs a set of his own original acoustic pop and funk songs as well as some fun covers. Things get started at 6 o’clock so stop through and check it out if you’re downtown this evening.

Portland Lobster Company hosts the Downeast Soul Coalition once again tonight for a Wednesday chock full of solid soul music that will get kickin’ right around 6:30pm. This event is free and all-ages and guaranteed to be a whole lot of fun.

Portland’s own feel-good collective Happy Folk will be bringing some jazz-rock jams to Andy’s Old Port Pub tonight. Join this band of musical merrymakers for an evening of feel-good fun as things get started right around 7.

Blue’s Irish Concert Series continues this evening with a musical performance by banjo player, Allison DeGroot and fiddler, Jack Devereux. The pair will be bringing some old-time Irish tunes paired with a bit of Appalachian roots sounds to the stage starting at 7:30pm.

If you’re looking for some midweek punk rock then be sure to check out tonight’s show at Flask Lounge featuring the cool tunes The Digs, Ray’s Occult, Gant and Not30. This free shindig is guaranteed to be a party as things start up at 8pm.

Over at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port you can check out another fun evening of folk tunes with local musician Dave Rowe. Rowe’s free show starts up at 8 so swing through and check him out if you’re in the downtown area this evening.

Fort Kent native Neal Jandreau will be celebrating the release of his debut record ‘In Retrospect’ with a party upstairs at Empire that’ll feature some of his County brethren as a backing band, some of those players include Dominic Lavoie, Chuck Gagne, Tim Beaulieu, CJ Theriault, Jack Murray and Colin Winsor. See Jandreau’s original pop-rock songs come to life as music begins at 8 o’clock tonight.

Local folk-pop act the Dapper Gents Duo return to the stage of RiRa tonight for their regular Wednesday night gig. Join these fellas for some musical revelry as this free show starts up around 9pm.

This week at Rap Night at Aura you can catch Cesar Comanche along with Eternal as part of their Building Bridges Tour. Opening the show will be Jacobsen and Just For Kicks. As always, there will also be open and late open mic cyphers hosted by Ill By Instinct with El Shupacabra on the decks. Things get started up downstairs at 9 o’clock.

Mellow your mind with some midweek music over at Portland House of Music and Events as The Maine Dead Project returns to the stage as part of their summer residency tonight. These talented musicians will be performing songs from the Grateful Dead and other beloved jam bands as things get underway at 9pm.

More midweek fun will be happening at Crooners & Cocktails tonight as Hello Clarice brings some fun tunes to your Wednesday. Hello Clarice features the vocal stylings of Clarence “Jim” Roberts of Hello Newman and the musical mastery of pianist Mike Maurice as they play everything from Frank Sinatra to Billy Ocean. The pair prepares to perform beginning at 9:30pm.


Local musician Jim Gallant brings a mix of Americana, blues, folk, bluegrass and rockabilly to Lenny’s at Hawkes Plaza tonight. Join him for a free evening of music as this all ages show starts at 7 o’clock.

Local artist Pete Witham returns to The Frog and Turtle tonight for some fun Americana and rockabilly tunes that are guaranteed to help you hurdle the hump this Wednesday. Pete will be joined by his regular rotating cast of musically inclined characters as this free, all-ages performance gets underway right around 7:30.

Holly “The Nunz” Nunan is a musician from Portland, Maine with an unabashed love for the city as well as its thriving Maine music scene. This is her scene report.

Aside from here on this blog, she can be found around town taking in local shows, performing with any variety of musical acts (basically anyone who will give her a microphone and a tambourine), and talking up local music on WCSH 6 on Friday mornings around 6:20am. She is also the Promotions Director for WFNK, WTHT and WHXR in Portland as well as an On Air Personality at 107.5 Frank FM.
